Carpet or Hardwood in Bedrooms?

Its for an old Craftsman home I'm flipping, I love the wood, but do you think doing the entire house in Hardwood will make the house feel really cold?

What do you prefer in your bedrooms?

Thanks

My preference would be hardwood throughout. Carpet is fucking nasty.

Hardwood, especially if it is an old craftsman style home. Hardwood floors will actually increase the value of the home as well.

I agree that carpeting is nasty.

But it's a big house, don't you think it will feel really cold? I'm even doing the Kitchen in Hardwood.

Na, I'm totally with you, I always have carpet in my bedrooms, my closets and cozy rooms.
But for resell value, I wasn't sure.

I have a pretty large house and both the main floor and top floor are all hardwood. Not cold at all. Go with hardwood, much nicer on resale value too.

Hardwood for sure! I hate carpets.
You can do a lot with wall-colors and furniture to avoid it would look too "cold"

I agree about the resale value, but what about walking around barefoot, and kids playing and all that fun stuff?

What do you have in your Master Closet or Walk-In Closets?

Hardwood because of the Craftsman. It's easier to sell to a house with hardwood floors to a buyer that wants carpet than it is to sell a house with carpet to a buyer that wants hardwood floors.

Besides, there is a good chance that the buyer will end up putting in a huge area/room rug that shows off that its hardwood while still giving the warmth of carpet.

If this is an honest-to-God Craftsman home and you carpet it, you will immensely detract from the value and chracter of a very rare commodity. Quite a few of those are still around but relatively few in original condition. The more original is your Craftsman home, the more desireable it is.

Sally.

Hardwood - you can always put a rug down if you want something warm to walk on.

My wife has bitched about carpeting in the bedroom for months, and I took it all up and cleaned the hardwood floor underneath, now she gripes that the floor is too slick...guess it is area rug time.

I have hardwood everywhere but in bedrooms, even in the bathroom. I love the feeling of a carpet when I wake up. It also is great in kids rooms, they love to play on it.

Depends the country!

Having hardwood in England is the opposite to asking for sand in a desert

I love wooden & marble floors, more so the marble as I used to be a ceramic tiler, but boy, in Britain, you want to get up to something warm, thats carpet

Don't install black carpet.

My house has it and although it is awesome and makes the house look like none other, it shows every little damn thing. Could vacuum it 5 times a day and it wouldn't be enough.

Yeah, it is. But it's also a huge house so that's a lot of wood. But I think you guys are right, I think hardwood is the way to go especially since I'm selling it as a Full Blown Original Craftsman.

I've never ever had a bedroom with hardwood floors. Always carpets.

Come to think of it, I've never had a house with hardwood floors. Always tile and carpeting. Entire downstairs is all tile, and upstairs is all carpet.

In the bedroom, I like to have hard wood, although I do go in for a little carpet munching now and again to keep the Missus happy...

Wait, are we talking about sex or flooring?

Guess it depends on the country but my wife has light asthma so the choice was kind of obvious. Heated floors up here keeps the rugs away as well.
