COGENT -> AOL/TW rerouted.
Looks like Cogent took care of their AOL problems by rerouting through MFN.net
![]() I'm betting that the $$$ in transit that AOL will have to pay MFN for the increased load will get them to flip some direct cogent peering back on ![]() Who knows though.. I read an article on wired or washingtonpost (or someplace) that made it seem like there was some bad blood between them. |

AOL will see the increased traffic on their abovenet peering and will probalby demand renegotiation with abovenet. abovenet will likely be forced to stop the cogent deal. heh.

aol are such bastards, they are seriously becoming worse than microsoft with monoply behavior the way they have been handling peering lately.
At least they suck.. but they have so many of my buyers =( |

If it's temporary, it will happen within 24 hours. It's not like AOL's peering guys aren't keeping tabs on the Cogent routes. They knew whats was up within 60 seconds of them flipping on the MFN route ![]() Theres like this big game of peering chess going on right now. In the end I'm betting AOL will wind up flipping on the the old Cogent OC12's again. Thats probably the cheapest way for everyone to push the packets. |

It's silly though.. I think Cogent & AOL are fighting over $75,000/month here (To turn the the dual OC48 connection back on) - to be paid to AOL in addition to however they were splitting the line costs. |
