Whats the best FREE anti-virus for a mac

that is also running Win 7 Ultimate via bootcamp?

I have had to put Win 7 on to run a few older PC programs, so I dont intend to be in there much, and certainly not surfing online. However, I feel I should have at least 'something' on the Win Partition... Just incase. So, whats lightweight, fast, free and 'invisible' ? |

I use no anti-virus software of any kind on OS X or Win7. No problems.

Windows Defender runs on my Win7 install, only because it comes with it. On the OS X machines, I run Little Snitch, which is an inbound & outbound firewall that locks you down tight and requires your approval to allow connections. (not free) ![]()

I did run Norton for Mac for about a year. All it did was eat resources. It never flagged or detected or warned about a single thing. Complete waste of money.

Yeah, I think my kinda jokey thread title backfired a bit !

I dont mean for the mac itself. I just meant the best freebie to use with windows on the partion that I will not be using all the time. If I intended to be in windows surfing about, and downloading stuff, I'd pay for one, but as I'm not, its not worth paying... I'll probably just disconnect internet for my windows install.. That makes more sense. |

So, you have an install of win7 on bootcamp that YOU DO NOT INTEND TO TAKE ONLINE and you want to know what virus software to get?

Were you planning on getting USB sticks with viruses on and just running them? How do you think the win7 machine is gonna get a virus if you do not put it on the internet? I know windows is more vulnerable than osx, but I am pretty darn sure it needs some kind of connection to the internet! :D |
