:stoned Rock Group Rush to fan Rand Paul: Stop using our music

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/201006...s/ynews_pl2394

"It looks like Rand Paul is in trouble again ? this time for using music he's not supposed to. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal's James Carroll, the Canadian rock band Rush sent Paul's campaign a letter this week ordering the candidate to stop using its music without permission. Apparently, the GOP Senate hopeful used one of the band's best-known hits, "Tom Sawyer," as background music for a fund-raising video. And Rush's "The Spirit of Radio" has also been something of an unofficial theme song for Paul's campaign, played to jazz up supporters at campaign rallies around Kentucky."

While Rush has always adopted a kind of libertarian outlook, I doubt they were ever subscribing to the Rand Paul method of quackery.

Heart took the McCain / Pailin camp to court after they ignored their cease and decist. I want to say someone else, like JAmes Taylor, did as well.

Slightly off topic: This brings to mind an interesting blog topic--matching songs with politicians who're likely to use those songs as their unofficial campaign song.

It was Jackson Browne, the Republican Party used his "Running On Empty" without permission and he sued em.

Politicians are thieving scum and hypocrites who believe they're above the law. Several years ago, a woman who was running for US Congress made a verbatim copy of the TOS from one of my mainstream sites. The name of my site was mentioned multiple times, so there was no doubt as to origin. I called her office and told them they had one hour to remove it or else I would contact CNN to expose her.

Regarding the Ayn Rand naming issue: Straight from the man's mouth
