The board goes in cycles and every year as summer approaches it slows down. Part of the cycle is somebody posting that the board is slowing down and it is probably do to the lack of webmasters.

Probably due to you mean?

Total nonsense Sarah, sorry. The seasons are the cause? lol.

GFY fucked itself majorly with the whole tube skin debacle. Many really top notch people moved on after that.

Add the fact that it's now harder than I've ever seen it to make a decent crust in this business, more and more webmasters are either bailing on the game totally, or going part time and going back to work for the man.

When there's easy money to be made, people have more time to spend dicking around on boards. When their backs are against the wall, you give the board socialising up unless it's a core part of your business strategy.

Not the only cause but I have been on the boards for ages and there are indeed seasonal changes to the pace of the boards. It used to go along with the conventions..clearly people would be posting a lot before hand to get attention and then it would die down while the conventions were on. For the last few summers, the boards have been much slower over the summer and theb pick up again over the winter months. Go back and check and there has been a thread like this just about this time the last few years.

Now, yes, I agree that there more people with their heads down working and also that the surfer waves don't help. I am sure anybody that deals with support will agree that support has never been so busy and probably for the reason you mentioned - people are actually working hard.

Plus, there is a big intake of total newbie webmasters that have come, I think, from the general employment atmosphere in the real world. Seriously, in the last year I have had a great deal more total and utter newbies coming looking for help. I haven't seen that many in years.

So, no it isn't the only reason but yes there is a seasonal eb and flow of board activity.

It's summer, I don't know about you, but I want to work then get out of my house. :upsidedow

wtf are you talking about, some of the best forums around have dozens and dozens of subforums. if anything is the problem it's lack of moderation, where most other forums have entire teams and different levels of moderators working to keep things on track. none of that here.

Maybe Eric leaving Playboy, all the turmoil in the Industry, GFY supposedly being up for sale - maybe these are factors why no one is moderating?

Hey GFY: I volunteer to moderate GFY!
I'm sure things would improve then. :1orglaugh

Lower level volunteer moderators, and subforum specific moderators are nothing out of the ordinary on pretty much every other forum online. :2 cents: gfy is the only forum i know where they insist on leaving the moderation up to a couple paid employees.

it takes real knowledge and talent to make it through a recession. We are seeing who is real and who is not now.

all the pretenders as said above have gone back to their day job. there isnt enough money out there to be playing "im an adult webmaster" anymore.

I think you are dead on. All of the non-webmasters are gone. As the affiliate model dies there is no longer a need for worthless "account reps" that spend their days spamming boards. If you are an account rep you might want to consider learning a more useful skill asap.

Yep I've been to other boards where the mods don't fuck around. And don't EVER question a mods decision openly. There's no way some of these trolls would have been tolerated for more than a few posts.

I doubt ive seen such a bad attempt. proper retarded

It was just a nice try at spamming his retarded shit

:winkwink:

brentbacardi 06-14-2010 12:22 PM

Hmm but look at it this way, with people going out of business right now, in a few years, those that remain profitable all the while will come out ahead. Shit, for example there are tons of crappy videos from the 90s that are low quality and unless its a certain girl someone likes or something, that content I assume isn't a big seller anymore (I dont know for certain since 99% of my stuff is 2010 lol). Now a few producers leave the market now, just more room for HD producers or whatever the next thing is when it comes to light.

Same with all the affiliates, with less sites following the affiliate model, those that do should be able to pick up more traffic I would think as webmasters with sites have less options on where to direct adult traffic, they will send to the few remaining contenders and help keep those ones afloat with more traffic.

Its just cleaning house time....

GFY is the most active forum I have seen, and I dont mind the shenanigans as long as there is still business to be done and it doesnt get in the way.... :2 cents:

Should get rid of people that aren't involved in the business at all though... surfers should go somewhere else.

That's exactly right, which is why I volunteered tho, obviously, it would go nowhere because of what you say.

But I have the Wisdom of Solomon so i would make a grand moderater, IMHO. Of course, I can think of maybe five or six posters on here where I would be forced to slice that baby in half. But still...

Actually I've got some real good "guidance" lately on gfy. :) So maybe not like old days, but who would have time to read anymore anyhow.

There have been some very decent threads lately.

And agree with CS, I would like to see a pardon for those guys who fell on their swords.

That was silly. Fix up the diffs and come back here. Steve Lightspeed was just starting to post some good threads and that really was something that is over now. There has been nothing tube on here since so come back and give those trying to survive some guidance. :)

It would be good for the industry.

and wtf are you talking about cat? we are not talking about some other forums, we are talking about gfy right? and i remember much more alive gfy, and thing that changed is structure, not moderation! gfy was bomb when there was one fast forum, not when there are 10 forums and each is slower. but, nevermind, hamburgers will be not cheaper ...

Bring back the people IN this biz that got banned for the dumbest reasons. Get rid of fakenicking trolls baiting them.

There are too many useless posters like fatfoo. I've stopped coming here as much just because some of the idiots who should have been banned a long time ago are allowed to stay and act like idiots. GFY needs more active moderation.

This is EXACTLY why I stopped. To many stupid ass posts here and not enough people talking real shop. So I lost interest.

We recently rolled out an Affiliate Program and this forum gave us the LOWEST response of anywhere. We had more response from Xbiz and Shemp's forums.

We literally had like 3 people reply to our announcement.
