As some of you may know I have written a book. I got an agent, got a publisher and everything was looking good. My books was scheduled to come out in October (I guess it still might.)

A few weeks ago I find out that my agent has been arrested and the agency she co-owns with a few other agents has been raided and is under investigation. It tuns out they were defrauding people. To make a long story short when people would submit a manuscript if they decided that they didn't want to represent that person/book instead of outright rejecting it (as every agent normally would) they would tell them if they paid to have the book edited through a particular editing company (that they own) they would then sign and represent them. So people paid a lot of money for these editing services (sometimes 5-10K per manuscript) and then the agency still didn't sign them.

A few people got angry and reported this and an investigation started. Luckily, I have nothing to do with that. I never paid for any services, they just signed me after reading my rough draft. However, this now means I need to get a new agent and my book is in turn around because the current under-investigation agent is in the contract.

So two weeks ago everything was great, now I need a new agent, the book may be pushed back to next year some time and I've been freaking out.

It sucks. I haven't been able to concentrate on much of anything the last few weeks and have just been moping around pissed off.

The good news is my girlfriend just told me she is taking me to dinner to get me out of the house and that she bought some hot new panties that she thinks I will enjoy. I guess some things are looking up.

The book is about a woman who married her high school sweetheart and now 21 years later he is dying of an inoperable brain tumor. On his death bed he confesses to her that for the past 3 years he has been killing people and that he is responsible for over 20 murders.

After his death she thinks he was just hallucinating it because of the tumor only to find out he was telling the truth and that he had a partner who thinks that she knows his identity so he wants to kill her before she goes to the police.

All I have ever used is MS Word, although I do now use Open Office. My MS Office disc got broken and I didn't feel like buying a new version. Open Office works just as good. I also use a program called SEO Note. It is a free program and it lets you basically build folders and subfolders that you can put notes and information in. It is kind of like having a bunch of index cards all organized in one easy to use program.

I have tried a few programs in the past, but never had much luck with them so I gave up on them pretty quickly.

Only for a minute. In the end it looks like the publisher is going to publish the book. My editor tells me they really like it, so it is just a matter of when. If it isn't this fall, it will be somewhere at the start of next year. I guess if everything fell apart and I couldn't get a decent publishing deal I would consider self-publishing a little more seriously, but as of right now it isn't an option. It looks like I just need to be patient.
