    look I'm a whiteboy from Oaktown.. I dont give a fuck what color you are, if you're cool you're cool... if you're an asshole you're an asshole... and I know this will open a can of worms with some folk but hey this is a forum for discussion..

    Some black actor is being pushed for the role of spider-man.. hey I was all for Obama.. didnt care what color he was.. the best man for the job (or so it seemed).. but I grew up reading comic books and watching shows and movies with a white Spiderman.. and white presidents.. Black folk would be FUCKING OUTRAGED if a white guy was gonna take over for some famous traditional black role.. imagine Jim Carrey taking over for a new Cosby show with him cast in Billy Cosby's place.... !! Too much hypocrisy out there. Any other white guys here like Kool and the Gang? What black person would want Axl Rose to sing for them? Or see Snow or Eminem take over Ice Cubes new role on TV?

    I've ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS supported folks and racism sucks but a brotha in Spiderman? Might as well call it Spidermon. ;-p and I joke... wouldn't wanna upset anyone right? jeezus...

                          seriously though.... why can't spiderman be black? or hispanic? or a woman? it's a fictional character. the ethnicity was not a major part of the lore. it doesn't quite compare to 'rewriting history' like if you made obama or kool & the gang white...

                              OK I get it.. guerilla viral marketing.. and I know what yer sayin as for the characters ethnicity not bein prevalent to the story.. but damn, will he be an adopted child now with his white Aunt May and deceased uncle if he gets the role?



                              Asian and Persian folks are pissed that the Prince of Persia was cast with predominately white people in the main roles.. parents would like their children to relate to those characters of their own race.. Hollywood-ized and Whitewashed.. so typical of hollywood to do that..

                              As for Spidey, I see the diff ethnically, why don't they just leave it alone. Whats next?

                                      thats where i agree with you. just leave it alone. i'm not a overly-critical comic geek, but i do like the movie remakes to remain as true to the originals as possible.

                                      black spidey would be 'cute' but i wouldn't enjoy it fully. wouldn't be able to see past the gimmick angle

The original Iron Man was wasn't red & gold, but gray in Tales of Suspense #39 (1963). And Peter Parker was named Peter Palmer in Amazing Spider-Man #1 (1963).
