Tired of feeding the exit consoles of your sponsor for free?
It pisses me off that these affiliate programs make so much money trading exit traffic when they don't even pay for most of it... When I think of all the unpaid exit traffic I must have generated over the years, it brings a tear to my eye...
Some have said -- well show the $ amount on the banner -- that way you send less clicks to the banner but you'll make more money / click... Maybe this is true -- but some have also said that doing this detracts from impulse buying... and so it's better to not tell the surfer about $ until he hits the join page... Do you agree? So there are other options... Build your own exit chain using full page ads (pre-qualify the traffic) and don't let the surfer ever get to the exit consoles that your sponsor uses... It's a lot of work, but I think this system works... Also, a gallery has almost the same effect... the ratios from a gallery to a sponsor should be better than direct off a banner... so you aren't doing as much charity work for the exit farmers... Thoughts on this? |

Class program owners will work with you on this & allow you to control your exit consoles, especially if you work in volume.
I've never had an issue with it.....

My thoughts are pretty simple. Once you hand over the traffic it's not yours any more. Unless you think you should be giving theHun, the search engines etc your checks since you got the traffic from somewhere...

Good point Kimmykim.
At the same time though it depends on the type of program you send to. Most recurring programs give the webmaster the exit. Most flat rate programs don't. Some programs offer a cheaper flat rate with no popups or popups you can controll. It all depends on what you choose. No reason to get upset at the money programs when it's your choice on how the exits work.

Agreed. And dont forget that those nice fat signup rates you get (40 per) are funded in part by those exit consoles you hate so much.

For per signup programs, getting paid $35-45 per signup is VERY generous considering the surfer might cancel after the trial. The sponsors are taking a big risk here and they need to minimize the risk factor by making money on the upsell, cross-sell and exit consoles. While you might not like it, you need to realize that these sales contribute to your fat per signup checks.
For revshare programs, I tend to believe that all sales should be split according to the percentage. If you're promised 50/50, I do believe this should be 50/50 on exits, upsells, cross-sells. Either way, if your not happy with the sponsors keeping the exits, work on a no-console deal, you'll get a couple dollars less per signup but at least they won't profit from the exits. Or if you have volume traffic/signups, you can pretty much negotiate a deal with the sponsors to keep the exits. Talk to them, they're very understanding to your needs. WG
