so far I'm cold turkey...and it's driving me insane!!!

For me the best was just... book :)
Really. Try to read Allen Carr's "Easy way To Stop Smoking"
You just read the book and that's all - you quit

Cold turkey, bruv. Remember, you are not addicted to anything, you were a non-smoker before you became a smoker, so you've done it before. The habitual side of 'going out for a smoke,' 'relaxing with a smoke after dinner or sex,' or 'smoking while writing that blog post' is the only issue that you may face. If you break these key timings (have a nap or brush your teeth / rinse or drink a glass of col water instead), you have it in the bag. I smoked a pack a day for 10 years and nearly 2 packs a day for the last 4 months before I quit. I went from almost 40 smokes per day to 0, in one day. Was it hell? Actually, no, not really. I smell good, I look better, and I am looking forward to a longer life and not dying of a collapsed lung and cancer (I hope). :) Good luck!

chantix worked for me, before that i thought i was never going to quit.
also i liked this option because you didn't have to quit smoking prior to taking it. a lot of methods tell you can't smoke while using them.... isn't that kinda fucked up? think about it.

people complain about having nightmares while taking it. suck it up - if something is going help you stop smoking a fucking nightmare is nothing

Laser treatment, my friend quit over a year ago after getting zapped.

the most difficult in quitting smoking is getting rid of cigarette habit. It's not about nicotine, it's all about picking, lighting, inhaling - the whole process that you (seem to) enjoy.

1. get lots of chewing gum, nuts, fruits, candies, water
2. throw away ANY tobacco
3. get yourself locked for 3-4 days, preferrably alone, where nobody's smoking around you.
4. tell EVERYONE you're quitting - that's an important step, this way you realize that if you don't quit people will think you're liar/unrealiable. ALSO be aware that you're going nuts for the first 3 days - irritated, angry, bashing people for no reason. That's why oyu'd rather survive it alone.
5. get yourself a buisness to do. You MUST be busy with something: work, hobby, gaming, whatever can be done alone, just to stay away from the thoughts of cigarette.
6.Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking - many of my friends indeed quit smoking with the book.
7. option - you may want to get a couple of nicotine chewing gums - but just a couple, so you could stand the cancellation syndrome without smoking "just the last last single one cigarette".

Get that all together and it's 95% you'll successfully quit smoking.

Anything else (like going to lighter cigs, nicotine patch etc) is bullshit IMO.

Exactly, which is why I felt the Nicorette Inhaler worked for me. It (mostly) felt like I was smoking and going through the motions. I just wasn't. That little bit of nicotine kick kept the physical aggravation down very well, and I wasn't chasing people around bumming smokes just to get the "holding something cigarette-like between my fingers" feel.

I've recommended it to a couple friends who have tried it since, one failed, the other is doing well. I know another guy who recommended it to me who it worked for, and have heard from many others I mentioned it to that they knew people who quit with the inhaler. So far from what I have seen from friends who have used it, the success rate has been pretty good. Especially compared to gum, which seems to fail everyone I know who has tried it.

good hints here :thumbsup, you should watch the movie "Constantine" heard that it helped some guys to stop smoking additionally think about the money you can save (per month/year/lifetime :)).

Cold Turkey, Cold Turkey, Cold Turkey - It tests how much u wanna give up smoking.. but its by far the best, once yr over the worst.. 35 yrs smoking here, always said to myself would give up when I felt it affecting my health.. Wake up each morning now with no pain in chest (and smile to myself), no coughing fits and no early morning oysters!

I've just put on about 40 lbs.. :(

Oh, and the absolute BEST ADVICE i can give if you're trying to quit moking....

Quit drinking while you're at it. Going out to the bar, or partying, whatever when you're trying to quit smoking, is just about a surefire way to fail...

CruelMedia 04-07-2010 04:04 AM

well I'll tell you what worked for me..

I got really drunk..
Smoked a lot..
Took a long walk home.. long breaths of fresh air..
Threw away the last almost full pack of cigarettes..
Never smoked ever since..

Story happened on 4th of July 2009..
Good Luck.. :thumbsup
