Renting movies online...

Should be cheaper than walking across the street and using Red Box for one dollar a day. You can get a Netflix membership dirt cheap and they will cover the cost of shipping you nonstop DVDs (the postage costs far more than the bandwidth.)

Amazon wants five dollars to rent a movie. Zune wants about four dollars to rent a movie. Not sure what the iPod store wants but I would imagine it's very similar. Local cable VOD wants $3-5 as well.

In short, it should not be cheaper to purchase from a physical distribution system than a digital distribution system.

I always wonder what kind of shipping deal they get from shipping millions of DVD's every week. Must be cheap as dirt as well.
Since netflix has a rental - streaming option on XBOX live, i don't know of a better product

All the movie stores around here are dropping like flies. There's ONE blockbuster within 5 miles of me now that is still open. There used to be 7.

You can't beat Netflix. Even the Redbox can't touch it. I stream something via Netflix pretty much every day.

Should be cheaper. If I remember right iTunes is $3.99 for a new release and $4.99 if u want it in HD. Older movies can be as cheap as 99 cents but most are 2.99.

I've never seen a movie for more than $3.99 for rent. in fact they have many movie for sale for $5 or less. If you look for deals you can often rent them for less than $3.99. In fact I rent a lot of movies for 99 cents. Difference between Redbox and Amazon? Well first with Redbox you still have to take the movie back within 24 hours or get charged another dollar. Second if something happens and you can't watch the movie that day then you have 30 days to watch it with Amazon.

If you like waiting for your movies to come in the mail and you rent a lot. For the $9 subscription to Netflix I can rent 9 movies from Redbox which is more movies than I would rent in a month anyways.

Netflix also has a bunch of movies and tv shows available for play via streaming. It's a great service.

You're paying for the convenience of being able to watch it right at that moment, and I'll bet its cheaper for mailing postage than the actual bandwidth cost of streaming it.

Some companies, like Rogers, have "video on demand" TeleVision. This television offers free movies and paid movies that you can order on your cable TV. This would mean that you can order (rent) the movie you want without leaving your house. Some promotions may be available in your area such as "get first 6 months free". Check the http://www.rogers.com website now!

Most of the streaming movies are over 10 years old. Anything under 5 is basically non-existant. As far as TV shows? That's what TV is for. As well as sites like Hulu.
