what is the best way to mount a stripper pole?

im getting my deck built...and i am putting a stripper pole in the middle of it.

it will be hidden at most times by a cover....but will come out during parties

anyway, im wondering does it need to be mounted at the top as well

or is there a way to do it from below only?

im thinking of putting an awning over the whole deck to protect from weather when needed

so not sure if would interfere with my stripper pole

should have a plate on the top of it
Then you can build a wood box around it to hide it, make it look like a support column

I'm going to be moving again soon, when I get the new place, I'll make a stripper pole. I have been working with metal for all my life. Something like that would be easy. Get length of pipe, cut to length, weld plates on both ends, mount it . Then polish it.

You could in theory mount it without something on the top
you would have to have it extend through the deck and have another 2/3 of length below like a fence post tho and have it secured at the deck point and then at minimum at the bottom.. if you can't find a pole that long you could have it go through the deck and put three lag bolts through the pole into a 4x4 attached to the deck or extended down into the ground.

example:

I think at the base of it, make a large box around it, fill with sand or cement. Wide, sturdy, heavy.. shouldnt tip.

Saw on Gene Simmons show where a company delivered a rental pole and Shannon was swinging around on it without tipping it. It had a large base at the bottom, or consider it a mini stage.

do you have something to mount it to on the top? otherwise you need one of these:

http://www.platinumstages.com/NEW-St...ole_p_285.html

if you can mount it to something sturdy on the top you can buy a pole and just cut some slits down a few inches and bend the metal as a tab to screw it in. should cost under $100 total. heres a pic of the same type of pole on my party buses:

If girls are going to be holding onto it and walking around you should be fine with pretty much anything you do.

If you're going to have girls that know how to pole dance on it, reinforcing it is your only option. I've seen poles at clubs that weren't properly reinforced get ripped out of the ceiling.

Best bet if you're looking to move it around make a solid base and having it open ended, they're sturdy up to about 6 feet. You can make the base out of steel or whatever and the pole can be any material as long as it's grippy and can support the force that a spinning body will exert on it.

If you're looking for a relatively flush mounted pole from floor to ceiling, finding a good spot to drill it into the floor with a brass or steel base and the same thing to the ceiling is your best option.

If you want to test either of them, get someone that weighs around 200 pounds to literally run at it and grab onto it mid-air. If it rips out, try again. If it stays then chances are it will hold a 125lb chick spinning around upside down.

We bought a pole from www.platinumstages.com 6 years ago and have never had a problem. It has a plate on the top and bottom, adjustable length and works perfectly.

I have no practical experience with this. But I would definitely mount it both at the top and bottom.
