I watched the last World Cup and not knowing shit about who was good in soccer at the time, was like "damn, this Messi dude is all over the fucking place, in so many plays, etc....he IS that fuckin' team!"

Maradona, Pele and Garrincha were way better, they could do something like that almost every single game. Plus, Messi is amazing, but only in Barcelona system, out of Barca he didn't even exist. He's undeniably talented, but still far away of being the best player ever, I wouldn't even rank him in a top 20. And I'm from Argentina, so that mean ssomething.

I agree with Adam, this summer will tell if he is the Greatest Player Ever. Right now he is the best on this Planet with Wayne Rooney second, but this summer both of them have the chance to take it to that next level. Saw all three of them play and Best would do that game after game in the days of defenders like Norman Hunter of Leeds, Nobby Stiles of Man U and Chopper Harris of Chelsea. Today's defenders are scared to do what half these guys did to stop a player dictating the game.

The only thing that stopped George Best getting the true acclaim he deserved was playing international football for Northern Ireland and drinking. But he was still the best player I've ever seen.

Would still love to see Messi play in the Premiership and see how he copes with the defenses there.
