Look at other popular programs that have message boards -- when oxcash was hot -- the board was all full of people talking about their ratios... I don't know about everone -- but I think most of the original GFY people -- ie: the origins of the Boneprone Family -- came from people that pushed AP Clickpic -- we were making money -- ratios weren't really a concern becaues it was $.04 or $.06 -- either you were at 1:800 or you weren't... It was a no brainer -- you put up a clickpic banner -- follow the rules -- you watch the money come in. Lensman did all the thinking for us.

Also somehow GFY (maybe intentionally) at first maintained a (maybe) tactical distance from Amateur Pages -- it wasn't immediately clear to new GFY members that it was a site owned by ICS... GFY was its own entity... People came here to get closer to Lensman -- after all he was paying our salary... A little ass kissing was in order!

What do you think? I seem to think that the message board talk for a new program will always be about ratios unless another "carefree" program comes out that is fantastically popular... Anyhow I get invited to different webmaster boards all the time, but GFY feels like home... But home is where the cash is...

I know it's stupid to try to attribute 1 thing to the success of GFY -- but this is kindof important... IMHO, besides oxcash, AP clickpic was the last fantastically successful affiliate program...

I dare say it, but I think if Choker was careful he could launch a message board to rival GFY... I don't use his services -- but it's the perfect forum for buyers and sellers working together to make money...

To me it seems the next "glorious" message board will NEED TO have some kind of brokering interface attached to it...

Forward thinking here -- I don't see how GFY can remain popular unless buyers and sellers can directly lock in traffic deals from within the interface/structure/umbrella of the board itself... This is already a marketplace -- but unless it evolves to the extent that Choker has evolved his marketplace -- I don't see how GFY can have an infinite lifespan... Sure the world does not revolve around TGP -- but a traffic marketplace will evolve out of all this -- it's only a matter of time. I love GFY as much as the next guy but I'm just being realistic -- if Lensman doesn't come up w/ something new -- I don't think GFY will survive... There are already programs like AdultCentro in the works -- and Choker is well on his way with a new marketplace...

Face it -- affiliate programs are inefficient... Whoever starts providing no-brainer traffic marketplace services first to the general public will prevail over all others.

GFY was the right board at the right time. When you look at the competition around at the time GFY started like Netsurprise with all their fucking bullshit 'I'm making some coffee who wants some' posts every 2 fucking minutes and the fake posturing of hahahahahahaha under Little Serges rein then GFY was a breath of fresh air for many experienced webmasters to read and post on.

I really can't see GFY going anywhere all those bells and whistles you mention Fly are cool but they don't make a good message board, you need the human element for that.

Wow great point. I'd have to diagree tho -- any kind of marketplace features would be optional and additive to the existing message board and I don't see how they would be visually intrusive... GFY already has plenty of bells and whistles, so what makes more useful features any different from the old ones?

Another real possibity is that GFY will just remain popular and more useful programs will "latch on" to GFY through the signature interface... Interactive/dynamic/functional signatures... but that's lost revenue for GFY + also the interface suffers... You can't natively configure the display of features -- you can't collect and distribute global statistics, see trends, etc... etc.

the problem is that only a small percentage of posters are actually conducting real business. And a lot of people who aren't on this board at all are doing big business.....This board is based around a social element. The business comes from social interactions. Your idea is good and I have no reason to doubt you..But without the social aspect, you have nothing. I have bought a lot of choker's traffic and I have bought a lot of months of Russian submitter. I also do a little bit with sexkey. but I wouldn't post on their boards for a social aspect as I would here. It would be strictly business. And with those boards, you need to be doing business FIRST before you're even on those boards. With GFY, you can be just a lurker until you know enough to make your own money..

Actually, early on it was abit slow around here... Lens, Tanker, and Me posting stupid shit back and forth... The thing that really helped it take off is, this was when we started giving away shirts for a 100 posts, then the 1st GFY party really helped things as well...

I imagine AP helped some, because it gave a base of webmasters to email about this place, but it really kinda has grown all it's own!

When GFY started the rest of the boards, except maybe Porncity had gotten really anal about stupid shit, so Lens decided that we needed a very open forum which is what made people want to stay after they got their shirt....

I think that GFY just came at the right time - it took the best of both extremes - the hominess of Porn City's bbs, plus most of it's regular posters and combined it with the extreme bs that you got on hahahahahahaha et al and added a lot of business savy and came up with a winning formula.

As for the future of this board in particular, I dont think it will go as far as The Fly suggests - I think people will still want to guard a lot of personal and business statistics, after all, bullshit still plays very well - however it will change, it cant afford to let itself get stagnant.

Would I have been here if it was not for Eric hyping it to me? Probably not if it was someone I didnt deal with. Would we be advertisers on this board if it was not a known program backing it. Well that would depend on the popularity.
