Question for Vegas Pro 9.0 users...

What is your video editing workflow? By that I mean, you bring your HD video into Vegas, edit it, then encode into the final format with Vegas? Or do you save it then encode it in into final format in another app?

I personally just kick it out in wmv and then again in mov and move on, Tony404 would be a good one to ask.

Load into Vegas, Edit, Save As(Copy Media With project), Tools, Batch Render, render in various formats using Vegas.

That's how I do it anyway. I'd like to hear how others do it.

I do all my encoding from within Vegas as well, except for flv which I do later with ffmpeg.

I'm trying to find a way to batch encode multiple projects into multiple bit rates. For example, I edit 10 movies so I have a project file and all the associated stuff per movie. I then split each video into 4-5 minute segments then encode each of those 4-5 minute clips.

Is there way to tell Vegas to: take every clip in movie 1 and encode it in format 1, and format 2, then move to movie 2 and do the same until all 10 moves are done?

Not positive I'm understanding the question properly but I think you can do what I think you're asking.

Highlight a portion of the video in your timeline, then hit "r", it will designate that portion as a "region", regions 1. Continue till your done with the different regions.

Then, TOOLS>Scripting>Batch Render>
Select the various formats and bit rates you want, click on "Render Regions" at the bottom. Hit OK and let it fly. It'll encode every region in every format and bitrate you designated.

If you don't want to use the default sizes and bit rates, you can create custom settings and name them and they'll show up in your choices of encoding options for each format.

I use add-on for vegas, allows me to import multiple projects and encode each of them to multiple file types. It can also encode the whole project, loop, regions, add watermark without need to add it in each project, import all of the projects in selected folder (including subfolders) and much more ...

my workflow is something like
- import everything and edit the stuff I need (if doing clips, just mark them as regions)
- save the project files into corresponding folders
- select the root folder with the add-on and tell it to import all of the *.veg files
- select all of the encoding templates (ex. wmv, mp4, avi..)
- select where I want files (usualy just in the each folder where the project file is)
- select the file naming (is doing clips, just name them by blank region names with a 0 in front 01,02,03...)
- go to sleep
