    I have a question about registering a domain

    i wanted to register a tube site domain name and well talking with a friend of mine i had some questions and thought i'd ask the experts.

    don't write shit like DON'T START A TUBE SITE or THATS STEALIN ecc ecc.....i support your cause and this thread focuses on another project i have in mind.

    the domain contains the word YOUTUBE in it (i'm not going to reveal the full domain name)

    but its sort of like pornvidsyoutube.com (porn-vids-you-tube) but my friend said that because it contains the words YOUTUBE.COM that it resembles youtube which is copyrighted and i may run into trouble with youtube and they could sue me for infringment of some sort.... so heres what i'm asking

    do you guys think that if i register an adult domain name with the words youtube at the end but it starts with other 2-3 words attached to it do you guys think that i could run into legal troubles with youtube?

      why do you want youtube in the domain anyways? why not just go for a different domain like pornvidstube.com

                  why do you want the phrase youtube at all. are you trying to piggy back on their traffic cos it wont work.

                  i should think any variation of "youtube" "utube" will get you in trouble.

                      no i'm not trying to piggy back on youtubes traffic i'd have to have google pass by like 800 billion times :D

                      but i'd love to have the word tube in there at least.

                                                      well to tell you the truth the site UTUBE.com sued youtube years ago for bring millions of visitors to their site and crashing their servers.

                                                                          If it is a famous, registered, and distinctive trademark --don't do it. You can get sued big time.

                                                                                      i would also stay away from anything with redtube, sextube, myspace, facebook, and twitter in it. I find myself going to the gov trademark website a lot these days before I purchase certain domains. I had owned some of these with the word japanese added to them and received a trademark infringement notice. Many of these companys will not register every good term with their domain, but will go after people if they want to. I do know that some of the larger companies will not bother you unless they feel you are doing something to hurt their brand. Of course placing porn on a domain that is for a social network for friends and family can only bring problems.

                                                                                          I would not use the word "tube". Think of something different and out of the box. When you find that the tube idea does not make any real money you can use your domain for the next "Big Thing"

                                                                                                  1. Youtube is owned by Google. Getting a domain with youtube in it will make you owned by Google too.

                                                                                                  2. Look at the top tube sites: YouPorn, PornHub, RedTube, Tube8, YouJizz, XHamster, SpankWire, TNAFlix, etc. Count how many times "tube" is in that list of names...2 out of 8. Got it? Think outside the box. OR buy something MangoTube from Evan for 5-figures, your choice.
