Very true, too bad their hit singles kind of distort their image, cause they have so much interesting atmospheric stuff on their albums.

Just recently finished the biography of Shane Mc'Gowan

Hopefully I'll get to se The Pogues yet.

Love Stray Cats too

The one single biggest musical personality to come out of the 80's - I guess I'd have to vote for Prince, including his gay rise to the stardom he was everything he wanted to be in the past 30 years and kept total control over his music and business.

My first husband had an on-again-off-again sex meetup relationship with Toyah back in the 'the day'. Then, I move here and she was hosting 'The Sex Show' . Yeah, no pressure! lol

thats a trip, i really remember her most from this great music doc called "Urgh A Music War" which has a killer tune of hers on it and many others in that list including Wall of Voodoo who actually have their version of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire on an 80's porn film called "Night Dreams" directed by Steven Sayadian aka Rinse Dream.

I'd probably look to include bands who were out in the 80s.

Hope that helps.

The danger of this process is I get caught listening to music for far to long.

Like, I haven't listened to the band ABC is years. I saw them live by accident a couple years back as part of another show and was sort of stunned by the power of Martin Fry's voice so many years on.

Then today, I get caught listening to a show they did at London's Albert Hall last year when they played the whole of Lexicon Of Love with the BBC Orchestra.

Okay, this is a crappy fan video recording but that album came out how many years ago and his voice is still that strong even with having been through serious illness. Plus, the song is so much better without the normal video!

All bands named after places suck. Kansas, Boston and Chicago are some more good examples.

When Chicago was the Chicago Transit Authority they were really good, before the guitarist blew his brains out in a game of russian roulette. They put out their first record,a two record set and did not copyright it, and further went on to explain why they did not want to copyright it on the inside of the cover.

I am not this old, but my oldest brother had that album in his collection.
