im still lost about sitemaps.

wordpress got a sitemap plugin but i need a sitemap for my babelogger site. The wp plugin adds new posts automatically to the sitemap. How do i do this in babelogger? Is this necessary?
Cant i make a basic sitemap with just the main url, category pages etc, and set the change frequency to always. So google knows the main page is being updated always then it will automatcally check for what is updated and sees the new posts. That way you dont have to add every single new post to the sitemap. Pretty logical but since google is far from logical (just look at the user interface of your google account - worst ive come across) i dont know if im correct about this. Thoughts?

site is nowhere to be seen for certain keywords anymore. I guess that is sandboxed although alot of people and articles on the web seem to mix up sandbox, ban and penalty.
What i do know it is completely gone in the SERPs for a really competive keyword where i used to have a great SERP for until i fucked something up on my site. It never returned to that position again, not even page 50 - just completely gone. Site is still in google for smaller keywords.

you still actively building links? one thing is that simply you have pushed down by sites that were more competitive.

but seems like some kind of penalty. how many anchors were you using when building them? if it was only one or a few i would drastically vary your anchors to get a more natural link anchor pattern. only using a small amount of anchors might have got you penalized.

yes i know of & do both points you make. The cause of this is another reason: Change of site backend which caused 1000's of pages in my site being deleted. Google didnt like this and kicked my site for my competitive keywords out of the high SERPs... about a year and a half ago. Never recovered, still build links but hope has gone away pretty much. But every couple of months or so I get reminded by that disaster again and I just cant stand something i dont understand and try to find solutions, like im doing tonight.
