And so is George C. Parker.

Jim has an advantage because he's not shooting in LA

Sales are down across the board. So it makes sense to me that if a company needs some great content and you have Content Shooter A in California who has to pay models a high rate and charges more VS Content Shooter B (Jim Gunn) in Florida shooting the same kind of content just as well or better with lower costs...then it's a no-brainer.

I think it goes back to what Dan is saying about agencies not wanting to bring the price down (and I don't blame them...who wants to ever charge less?) at a time when people can't justify high production costs VS ROI on the shoot.

That's just my opinion by the way. Educated guess with absolutely nothing to back it up. So if I'm wrong feel free to enlighten us.

Not accurate in my case. I don't sell my services on the basis of price. I'm probably more expensive than many producers. There are a lot of other factors that go into content production from style, access to fresh talent, lighting, videography, creativity, costumes & props, reliability & follow through and the business relationships that develop over time. Thanks to the support of a lot of great people & companies over the last nineteen years I have managed to carve out a few niches for myself & my services and I am excited about a couple of new ones ready to launch this year.

Makes sense.

I was just reasoning that since sales are down across the board that you would have an advantage in being able to have a MUCH lower overhead than producers in California. But if you're charging the same prices as them anyway...then that's just another reason I like you Jim! :)

And yeah, your longevity advantage over just about every other shooter that posts on GFY definitely works to your advantage in terms of business relationships with different people.

My content orders are up across the board this summer compared to last year. Im doing quite well actually and shooting high end production for decent budgets so things are only getting better in my world. There will always be new programs and most of the older ones will die off if they keep the same business model. A new generation of webmasters with new ideas are going to take over the industry in the next 10 years and the old school guys will be complaining about how they didn't change their business model in time for the next generation of porn surfers.

The same thing goes for content producers as well if you don't adapt to the market then you will die off like the rest.

Depends on the company
