You say a "true" affiliate is one who brings new eyeballs etc etc.. What about some of the massive review sites? I GUARANTEE that they send a shit ton of sales that come from direct site name searches, are they considered siphoning sales as well? I know you say if they can get ranked organically then good for them and they deserve the sale, but really what is the difference between that traffic and a sponsored ad?

I just don't see what is so bad about allowing someone to do it. You will never have all the first page results for your exact site name, so what is so wrong with one more link going to your site? It sure beats it going to a competitors or a torrent site.
