Guess it is a good ad for such phones :)

I am back btw.

Best of luck ASM , i do not understand how you stay so damn positive all the time. I always have a ton of questions for you but always feel guilty even asking them , as if you dont already have a shitload on your mind every second of every day.

Does your cell have speech to text ? are there any technical gadgets that might make life easier for you ?

p.s. a note on perspective ---

In the summer i fell on my motorbike and slammed my leg into the chain guard, my leg swelled up smething fierce in one small area on my shin, i went to the doctor he said its just burst vessels , come back in a month. I went back a month later , there was still a big knot on it. I asked " how long until it goes away " , he replied " that's just how your leg is now ". I was pretty bummed, my leg is all funky looking for the rest of my life.

in retrospect , how fucking selfish of me to think that way.

Ask away, I have always tried to remain very open about things.
PS - that is far from selfish. Some people are more vain, some people care more about looks, some care about other issues. I personally would feel the same if I was not in my current body. I just am not that vain in mine. So I do not find it even a wee bit selfish. It is your leg that is fucked up for life after all.

PS I am back. I can not deal with the waiting. It is like waiting for a damn execution. Even if I have to deal with phone access.

Praying all goes well for you! Thinking the way you do, has got to be helping in a positive way. I have enjoyed your posts here on GFY, the mother in me wants to give you a HUGE virtual hug!

If there is anyone I know who puts up a good fight, it's Dave. Hang in there my friend, my thoughts are with you and Julia. Hope you have an iphone with some decent games on it, I know waiting in a hospital seems like the time passes way slower than normal.

C-Luv 11-09-2009 12:29 PM

My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

You seem to have a positive attitude.... to me that really shows what a great person you truly are.

Stay strong!

Dude what decade are you living in? LOL
Nurses stopped wearing skirts by the time I was 12-13 years old, and that was about a quarter of a century ago. Most all just wear nurse scrubs now which are nothing more than colorful smocks or shirt type things and scrub pants. Some wear doctor jackets/coats. None wear skirts though, if you see a skirt they work in admin.
Best you may get is a few down blouse shots if someone was interested, since the smocks have a deep V neck that goes to about the mid chest length. Technically they should wear shirts under them.

Next issue is most nurses in this area are Vietnamese or somewhere closes. Not my thing and to top that off, many are older. Have not located the Stanford nursing school staff yet.

I was lucky enough to meet Dave and his new wife the day they got married. What was impressive was what a great family they have. Why they picked a day that hot to get married outside is beyond me. What was it, like 120 degrees in the shade?
Dave when you get back, send me a email, lets get together!

AJHall 11-09-2009 12:43 PM

Since you're there you may as well put in a request for the nurses to go back to wearing skirts...

Our thoughts are with you Dave and we wish you a speedy recovery.

Cause I wanted to get married on the 4th of July. Was the only way I could think of to make sure most all my friends had the day off each year, plus I not only get free fireworks on my anniversary where ever I travel in the US. I can get away with a BBQ or something easy going. so that is why.

It did not reach 120 that day, was close. But hey I did spring for outdoor air conditioning, tents, and free drinks.

I just remember the heat popping the tire on a trailer next door during the event, well atleast no humidity!
Other than the heat, it was a really good wedding!

Wish they would hurry the fuck up and take me. I fucking hate waiting on shit. Plus I am thirsty as hell and hungry too. Mostly have a desire for some damn liquid though. Need a giant glass of something cold.

Yeah money doesn't matter when you see things like this. ASM is a strong willed guy, let's just keep our fingers crossed that the docs don't make him look like his avatar pic.

Well I made it fine through surgery.

Still have the legs for now. One should go during the next surgery and if all goes well with that surgery then I can get the other lopped off.

Oh I have to say this often, people can feel free to ask any type of questions they wish. If something is too personal I will just say so. Doubt any would be. However this does not always extend to business questions. Easier to answer questions than fill everyone in via email or guess at stuff that people are curious about.

No morphine drips for me. That shit barely works anyways. Makes me wonder how people end up loosing everything and sucking cock over it. I have a pain button with another drug, plus I get push (shots) by request - up to 4mg every 4 hours and 4mg more at dressing change time.

The wound is fucking massive. Looks like a shark took a bite out of my ass, but worse.

As for nurses - on the room floors there are next to no "white" nurses and those that I have seen are typically old. The rest are Vietnamese and Indian (dot kind). All the white girls seem to be in the OR staging room. Yeah not a fan of Indians or Vietnamese girls. Some can be cute, they are just rare.
Then NOBODY wears skirts, they wear scrubs or smocks and scrub pants. Anyone you see in a skirt is either a visitor or works in administration. Only nudity slips you may see are down smock shots. Mostly due to the deep V cut in the front, the lack of wearing a tshirt underneath, plus they hang their ID cards from one side often. Typically they use a retractable leash with keys or cards on them. The leash is not heavy but heavy enough to allow the shirt to swing open some when they lean over. No need to drop shit either. So if you like natural boobs (I do) on ethnic girls (not really my thing) getting flashed (seems hotter) you would like it. Personally not interested in other girls though, I like my wife.

Mutt 11-10-2009 01:05 AM

ha you are a trooper, i know people who have root canals that act like they just had major surgery and you are the complete opposite

technology is amazing, must make things so much better for people who are in hospital

Question...what specifically is your medical problem that is requiring the surgeries and requiring that your legs be amputated?

Farang 11-10-2009 01:39 AM

Good luck ASM! Stay strong, man.

In reverse, the leg amputation was at first something I wanted to do but was holding off until I was better health wise (major surgery you know) and when the legs or leg could be used for something like a skin graft or muscle flap (look them up if you want). Thankfully I did not do it earlier as they need one now.

Anyways one of the requirements to ever use that chair that others ran the sig donation thread for and people here donated their sigs for that was up for auction, was that I would need to amputate my left leg. Reason being you need to have the ability to bend both legs and my left leg has tightened up and will not bend enough. Could just of had the tendons and muscles cut but to tell you the truth. My legs are just useless heavy time bombs that could go off at any time. Not to mention they make me less mobile and fuck with my quality of life - so I wanted them gone.

Now they need the leg because back in May when I went missing. I was dealing with my 2nd type of cancer. I had already had and dealt with bladder cancer a couple years ago. Anyways when they were removing it they had to cut out a huge chunk from my ass. That was left open due to surgery complications. I wanted to deal with it back at Stanford, where I am. They need the leg to close up the hole with a flap operation. If that takes, they will then remove the other. If it fails they have a backup.

That is the reason for that. I do have other issues, many.

natron 11-10-2009 02:43 AM

good luck man
