Don't know what kind of surgery you need but I had some a few years back and it SUCKED in so many ways. Stay strong dude and best of luck. Pullin' for ya!!

Did he experience blood loss on the transport? is his hemoglobin lower now?

ASM is more than just a name on a message board. Probably one of the best members of any board you'll ever meet. The guy is very intelligent and isn't afraid to tell you how it is.

This is true.. but I don't think I've ever did business with him or ICQ'd or anything.. and I think most of our banter was in non business threads.. ;) so it was weird to me when I stopped mid-yesterday.. and wondered.. "God I hope his transport is doing okay.."

Just talked with him here is what he is saying:

Yes I lost blood and is main reason I was admitted and getting my surgery so soon, by the time I arrived by blood levels were at 4.2-4.3 so they kept me and started on the blood and since I was here to set a surgery date they just kept me.
Surgery is to remove the skin cancer to prep my wound for closure in the very near future.
The trip was extremely painful and the only things the pain meds did were upset my stomach and taste bad.
I should be online in a few days, I do have email access though.
Surgery time is sometime monday afternoon.
I am currently in Stanford hospital (the university) in Palo Alto CA.


Side note - when your used to both DVR and a flat screen TV, it is damn hard to adjust to a normal 32" or smaller TV on limited cable as your sole form of entertainment (aside from music).
I am in a good mood. Plan on having 1 leg possibly cut off during this visit if they are able to get around too it. We will do the 2nd latter more than likely. Hopes are good to have 1 done though

Unless I am terribly mistaken, he's not had the use of his legs for many years due to an accident when he was younger.

I may be wrong on that though. As others have said, I don't know him outside of this board, but he is one who's posts I enjoy, both business and non-business. He's one of those guys who has knowledge about lots of subjects.

I got very bored and curious waiting around for the knife so I loaded the site up with my cell, which even at 3g speeds takes a shit load of time and the format sort of sucks - at least on the android. Not super bad but enough. Was able to read every reply up to Daddyrefcodespamer - OK that was not nice but fuck we all need to poke at each other some in good fun and debate, so no offense meant. OK so I made it to post number 39.

My battery is close to dead so I will need to make this fast unlike my normal posts.

Camtraffic as I shared last week. The plan is to have that stick removed from my ass that people on here complain of. OK I joke, it is to remove what skin cancer I have left around my wound that was left open. Then if that goes well, hopefully the plastic surgeon group can start in on closing up the wound that was left open from my previous surgery (1st round of removing the skin cancer). Now since I want dual amputation in the future anyways. Plus if you remember that GFY donation event that someone held for me. Well If I ever wish to use the cash on that chair I wanted to get. I would need to have at least 1 removed anyways. Well I want to remove both.
So knowing that the plastic surgeons will have a much easier time closing the wound up. They can use a leg.

Thanks Dav3, mrpeabody, and PBsuperstars - btw your nick still makes me think of peanut butter sandwiches. Yeah I am just a nickname, that some get to meet if they are unlucky. Perhaps we can do something in the future. Yeah I bled, my hemoglobin was at 4.2 by the time I got here and I felt wrecked. I knew it would be close. Well blood is back to normal levels pre surgery at least.

Thanks baddog (do not know you well enough to use your real name) and sorry we barely met in Atlanta. Was not trying to snub you. I was as sick as a dog with a convention cold or flu when you approached me at the poker table. Was not shaking anyones hands at the time and was out of it on cold medicine waiting around the table trying to find steve lightspeed as he had/has some issue with me. Anyways again was nothing personal and you did approach me.

Yes Evan it is fucking rough with liking food like I do and being in the hospital. Do not even have my spice and condiment kit with me this time either. Did not plan on being admitted, so did not bring it. Seriously sucks. Good news is Standford is one of the better hospitals food wise. They have a "local organic" menu available and the regular food is not terrible like other places (very little frozen prepared items). What does suck is often I can at least depend on a break and use delivery. The restaurants here that deliver only deliver to the front desk or the ER front door - no patient rooms. Fucking crazy. Though I am sure some pizza places may go inside. Still stupid though and not hospital policy either.

MaDalton, nah I do not really need luck. Perhaps the doctors do. See Murphy hates me and has it out for me, but fate or whatever you call it also has it pre planned that I must pay for anything and everything I ever do. If murphy causes or plans for pain - Destiny will make sure I am alive and awake to feel it all. That is how it always goes. Was why I was not freaked about finding the pain reliever. I already knew in my stomach that somehow my trip would have to cause me pain and nothing is supposed to go that easy. So when I got the script for the medicine I was ready for it to go wrong, which it did and I did not get it filled until the last moment, then of course it did not work worth shit and just made me have an upset stomach. It is all cool though.

Best of luck ASM , i do not understand how you stay so damn positive all the time. I always have a ton of questions for you but always feel guilty even asking them , as if you dont already have a shitload on your mind every second of every day.

Does your cell have speech to text ? are there any technical gadgets that might make life easier for you ?

p.s. a note on perspective ---

In the summer i fell on my motorbike and slammed my leg into the chain guard, my leg swelled up smething fierce in one small area on my shin, i went to the doctor he said its just burst vessels , come back in a month. I went back a month later , there was still a big knot on it. I asked " how long until it goes away " , he replied " that's just how your leg is now ". I was pretty bummed, my leg is all funky looking for the rest of my life.

in retrospect , how fucking selfish of me to think that way.
