Anyone have a webhost try to bill them for services not used?

I have a host i used for 1 month trying to bill me for 6 months of service after i left claiming they never got a email asking them to close my accout. Should i pay the $120+ they want or should i tell them to fuck off?

if you sent the email in accordance with their terms, then tell them to fuck off. make sure you save all your emails for the credit card company in case you have chargeback.

Thanks for reminding me. I changed hosts recently and forgot to notify my old host that their service sucks and I would not be renewing. I think I had until the 15th to do this.

What fucking company is this? Yet another bull shit hosting company?

Fuck.

Here you go, threaten to sue them! On what grounds? Who knows, but it sure sounds fun.

Call a bunch of those business agencies and file a complaint. Unless you signed some contract or agreement, I don't see how they can continue providing you a service that you want stopped.

Well im sure its buried somewhere in thier toss that they can but i doubt it would hold up in court. First time i have ever seen a host try to charge me for 6 months of hosting after admiting that i never log into the server during that time and i did no bandwith.

Nah, tell them to fuck off....if you're not using their service you shouldn't be charged, it's not like it cost them anything to have you listed there in their system.

I had a company once try charging me for the time between I placed the order and the time my server actually went live....some fuckers will do everything they can to fuck you over....bitch slap some sense into them

Mainstream hosting companies are so shitty.

Well, if they had still provided the service for your use while you were still an active customer of theirs, then it cost them money to keep the account up. It?s their responsibility to maintain their accounts until the accounts cancel. Did you get a reply to the email that you sent them? If so, have them check their email logs to find it.

In this case, it would seem that the cost for them would just be the space availability, maintenance and support, but not bandwidth. If there is no proof and they are reasonable people, they would hear your side of it and work something out. They might have the server logs for when you took everything off and/or and look at when the domain was moved to another host and ask for the reason of the move (for self-improvement) or they might even give you the benefit of the doubt and trust that you had canceled without proof.

That seems very unreasonable

This also brings up an interesting question, are you guys going to refund a surfer if they claim that they had sent you a cancellation email 6 months ago and had not entered your website since and you can validate that with your server logs?

Exactly what do you think it cotst them to have my domains in thier dns servers? I used no disk space or bandwith once the server i was on crashed and i never reuploaded anything to the new server.

I offfered to pay them for the second month even tho im 99% sure i used no bandwith the second month jut in case i sent the email after a new billing cycle started i dont mond paying for what i use but its clear that i did not use thier services after the server crashed. $120+ for 5-10 gb of bandwith i used the first month i was with them seems a little high for me. They cant find the email i sent them and i dont ahve a copy of it either maybee they lost it maybe my email server screwed up i dont know.

I cant comment on the paysite question i dont own any.

Possibly. Would depend on the situation and how they approached me. But I would definitely try to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Don't need a bunch of pissed off past clients running around.

some hosts have a limit of how many virtual customers they put on a server. At 10 , then the capacity is filled.

some dont

give them a call and speak to a manager about it. Reason with them. Good luck

That would require me to still have ftp info and remember the u/p for the account.
