MikeT of dollarmachine.com, can I count on being paid at last?

Mike, how come your accounting person never gives a shit about invoices with a due date on them? How come I have to beg for my paycheck after we do our job on time for your company even if its a rush rush job? Invoice was submitted on 5th, it was due on 13th. Its the end of the month and I'm waiting on that payment still. Multiple attempts to get a response from a company representative to get a certain paydate constantly fail. How can your company rely on services of others if you don't pay the bills without a scandal?

Mike is not in right now.

However feel free to leave your resume at the door. It is frustrating to not get paid ontime, especially with todays issues and economics. Just sucks that for every dollar you did earn for whatever it is you did for them (unless it was sending sales as an affiliate), will be a fourth of the money you will miss out on from others for posting this.

I feel for you, just was a bad, bad, idea so soon.

Why is this a bad idea? It's almost half a month late, and from the OP it's not the first time.

Hi shima, you're a designer so I feel you. But just don't, ever, do this type of thread.
The phone is your friend for this. Pro people talk on the phone. Find the one who will process your payment, call, explain your situation, and this will be settled in a pro way. The weird stuff should be dealt with in private.

Python/Dollarmachine is a very good company to work with and you may have lost a whale account because of a thread that won't do much for you in a positive way.

Cheers, all the best!

Bruno

You would have to think the op doesn't want to do work for him any more by making this thread. Sounds like he is frustraited trying to get paid. Nothing wrong with wanting to be paid on time, muchless 3 weeks later.

I don't see how any other company hiring a designer would be discourage after this post. I would have no problem hiring this guy after reading this post since I always pay everyone who does work for me as soon as the job is completed. Why make someone wait so long ?

Bruno, this isn't the first time when we have this issue. Phones do not solve this problem. I'm just being promised a new pay day every 3-4 days. For 3 weeks.

Shima, if you haven't been paid, stick to a sponsor who pays!
We've been at this for years, 6 with DD, and 8 years with my own experience. Not to mention our staff, and will keep on paying. Why? Because what you earned is what you earned; and where I come from, if you don't get paid for what you earned, you are sure to get a pipe wrench in the back of your head. Jersey ethics 101.

Still, bad move IMHO. =)
But anyway, good luck! You shall get paid soon.
If you ever think you won't get paid in time, ask for an upfront. It works for us!

in these times isn't 30 day net reasonable? if an invoice goes unpaid longer than 30 days then I would complain, before that I might be annoyed but a little bit of patience is usually a good idea

Thats what it was supposed to be, only I went ahead and finished what was needed to be done, because it was urgent.

After reading two other similar threads I see that this is a constant problem.

and the only way to work with them is only by getting a full prepayment in advance.

very reasonable. If you get paid on the 30th day straight. If anyone pays their invoices within 30 days, hit me up.

This is not our first project. Our first experience was paid in over 85 days, though agreement was about 60 days. Therefore on this run we agreed on prepayment, but at the same time we needed to finish some stuff urgently. I gave them a second chance, we did the work that was needed done urgently, but they didn't do their part of the deal. And it seems that all arrows are pointing to accounting person that keeps making false promises.

Alex: Going to the boards? After 30 days?

It's not like this is our first project together and you know we have always paid our invoices before. You hit me up on icq or email and I answer you right away. I do my best to make sure you get paid and you know that.

Considering the relationship you have with us, I find it really unfortunate that you had to go to a public forum over a 30 day unpaid invoice.

I find it unfortunate companies don't pay their bills on time when people count on it to eat and pay other people.

That's what I find unfortunate.

I also find some peoples NERVE unfortunate when they are in the wrong but get aggressive. Oh well, that's the adult industry these days.

I don't think anyone is getting aggressive or defensive. Something was brought in a public forum - so a public response to the problem is perfectly appropriate in my opinion.

if you would have paid him this thread wouldn't have been created.

getting sick of companies making you feel like an ass for trying to pry the money owed out of them.

going to start a thread of mine today if i don't see a payment from someone myself. can't live off empty promises.

the thread dies when you pay the guy.

that is a perfectly appropriate resolution in my opinion.

Instead of doing anything on the board you could just pay him. Then you could reply with "Sorry for the delay and confusion. You did the work as agreed and we did not pay as agreed. I have rectified this and you are taken care of."

Instead you lashed a response on GFY and looked like a bitch.

What do I care - I have NO vested interest in this. I am just saying.

I agree with the last 5 posts....

What also find funny is how people think he did something wrong and made comments like "career suicide" for making a post about trying to get payment after 30 days. I guess some people have the mentality that they pay their bills when ever and you should be happy to get a check when ever they get around to it

Why do people pay their bills late? (not just a couple days, but several weeks late).

1. lazy
2. they don't have the funds yet to pay you.
3. incomptence.

If it is 3, then that should be resolved as soon as the company is contacted so they can't keep blaming the "accounting department". Then that leaves 1 and 2, which both are bad for business.

So, the guy did work that was ordered as a rush job. The company agreed to pay him on a certain day. Didn't. He hit up their accounting department as he was told to do. They told him he'd get a check in 3-4 days, then another 3-4 days, then another 3-4 days. And now the company is upset that he came to the boards.

Well, thanks for the fucking comedy routine. This board is funnier than theonion. Or maybe I'm the one who's fucked in the head. Who knows. I mean, what can it be? $1000 or less, right? Just slap up one extra pre-checked cross-sale for one day and you got him paid.

Python is a whale of a company that could have provided you with years of work. It sucks you didn't get paid on time but the fact is they ALWAYS pay and you just screwed yourself out of a lot of work. I've seen them go 6+ months late on invoices just to pay in full. It's worth the wait to keep a valuable client.

It's official. I am hereby declaring that I am paying all of my invoices on net 180 terms. I mean, you'll get paid, that's for sure. Just not till 6 months are up. Any designers interested in my jobs, hit me up.

I wonder if Enron used to pay their bills on time?

You are not a well known, well established, guaranteed to pay company either. No one will ever work for you in the first place.

I'm saying with a company like this it's guaranteed. It's not like you are taking some risk of not being paid for 6 months. If you can them after 1 month you just screwed yourself out of 5 months. It absolutely only applies to certain companies like Python. It's funny, the only people who know I'm right are the ones getting money from Python.

I may not be well-known but I have a million dollar idea that's going to take the industry by storm. I'm gonna do this site, where like people can upload their own videos and stuff and then like other people can watch them and comment on them and stuff. It's gonna be huge. I just haven't decided what to call it yet. Maybe idiotbox.com. I haven't decided yet. Who wants to design it for me? I'm paying net 180.
