The Sims Unleashed

Any other Sims addicts here? I finally managed to get Sims Unleashed to work on my box -- it kept crashing when I tried to load the game. I still have to download the Unleashed patch, cuz my sims do this funky 90-degree turn when they stop walking, and stuff keeps disappearing out my houses after I buy it. Kind of funny -- one minute the couch/painting/whatever is there, the next minute poof!

I'm addicted to the game because I love building and furnishing houses -- I go on jags where I'll build one house after another, I never stop to play the sims I put in the house. My current project is an All BtVS, All Gay neighborhood, because I found some kickass Buffy/Angel heads on Simfreaks.

And I seriously dig http://www.8thdeadlysim.com -- they have adult objects like a strip club set, stripper skins, an adult toy store...as soon as I get my old computer fixed, I'm going to give it to my kiddo so she can have a G-rated Sims game on her machine, and I can have an X-rated game on mine.

It's been a while since I played The Sims. I acutally had to uninstall it when I filled up my hard drive with porn and I never reinstalled it after I got the new one but thats probably a good thing our I would be sitting here playing it now.

I think the first 20 hours of playing The Sims make you a happier, more intelligent human being.

After that, your stats only ebb.

I installed the fucking patch and my shit is STILL disappearing! The goddamn kid is still standing up to watch TV, and all my sims make this stupid 180-degree turn when they stop, looks like they're standing on a turntable.

However, I finally got around to playing with this one espresso machine I downloaded a looong-ass time ago. I can dig up the URL for where I got it if anybody wants it. It's funny as hell -- when your sim drinks the espresso, all their values go to 100%, and if they live with anyone, their values also go up to 100%! It's bizarre. They're all like crackheads now, nobody in the house sleeps, and they all line up at the espresso machine like they need a fix. The kid in the family (I simmed myself, my daughter, my hubby, and my gf) stayed up all night long doing homework and went off to school fresh as a daisy, the husband read cookbooks all night, the sim of me danced by the stereo, and the sim of my gf just stayed at the espresso machine and kept drinking, and drinking, and drinking...

Heh. I have found all kinds of ways to kill sims...I once simmed a woman I know whom I absolutely hate, then sealed her up in an empty 6x6 room with the clown picture. The clown showed up when her mood levels went down, and they just made each other miserable! She slapped, insulted, and ignored him, and he valiantly tried to entertain her with his birds that died when he pulled them outta his pocket, etc, farting and coughing as he went...it was classic. She ended up dying in a pool of her own piss.

Then I simmed her again and set her on fire. You can get a really good fire going if you cover the whole room's floor with rugs and put plants everywhere, and then give your sim fireworks and have them shoot them off indoors.

I also found a shower that someone had hacked so that it electrocutes sims when they take a shower in it.

My daughter is apparently just as bloodthirsty as I am...one of her houses was nothing but a second-story platform, with no bathroom, food, or way to get down, plus a telescope. She was determined to get her sim abducted by aliens.

I'd love the URL to that espresso machine!

I just don't understand the sims online so far...

I hold my hand up. I am a total sims addict. I have to put it away for periods of time or I will never get any work done. Unleashed was a bastard to get working. I still can't run it with full sound...something to do with having soundblaster and xp apparently.

I have had to make two shortcuts..one with sound disabled and then for the other I took out some sound file (as suggested by someone). I can be in my house with the limited sound but I never get the phone ringing or baby crying which stinks. Also, I can't have any music (radios, etc) in the house or the game will crash. If I want to go downtown or to the old town I have to save, exit and click on the shortcut without sounds.

Can't get into online...well actually I can't get it to install but also not sure that I really want to spend $10 a month to chat with teenagers. I'll just stay a grownup playing with high tech jobs.

Well...I haven't found the URL for the espresso machine yet, but I did find a site I'd been trying to dig out of my bookmarks that has hacked objects (ones that perform new actions not in the original game, NOT objects that will in any way harm your comp if you download them!) -- it's Simslice at http://www.simslice.com/index.htm

Some really cool stuff there...pet rejuvenation chambers (hacked from the litter box) that give your pets green bars all the way across, human rejuvenation chambers (same thing, but hacked from the shower stall) that max out your sim's values, and other stuff.

Some of it is for donors only (I guess to cover their BW costs) and others you have to register to their forum to download, but these are really cool, weird little things.

I'm still lookin for the espresso machine.

Yeah, I have xp too, and Unleashed is still giving me fits. Some of my favorite objects just randomly disappear on me -- I downloaded a beautiful lighted hanging pot rack from Oph3lia's site, and it keeps poofing out of existence. I also have some great abstract paintings that are backless (they disappear when viewed from the back, so they don't obscure your view when you play with walls down) and they all seem to have that same disappearing problem -- they don't just disappear when I look at them from the back, they vanish from the game!

To be able to play with xp, I had to set the compatibility for the Sims to Win2K. I dunno why that worked when nothing else did. Before that it just wouldn't load at all.

As I said before, I downloaded the patch and it didn't resolve my problems, so I'm going to burn a cd of all my objects and families and uninstall/reinstall AGAIN. Last time I reinstalled only The Sims Original and Unleashed -- this time I'm going to try building back up from the original game all the way through Vacation to Unleashed (yeah, I'm a sims-geek, I have every single one of the games) and then install the patch again and see if that fixes things...

I think the esperesso machine is at 'sims on a stick' . You can get a magic fruit cake there that does the same thing but without making them crack whores.

The other thing they have at their site that I like is a ashtray that replaces the chess set. When you smoke you gain charisma and energy.

Ha! I think you're right! I'll have to go look there, thanks!

I found a smoking table like the one you described last night, except they gain logic points. I think I got it at Livin' Around the Sims.

i wish i thought I would be any good at making sims objects because most of the bigger sites are now charging to download. Simfreaks.com for example is excellent but they now are charging monthly fees...nice if you have the talent.

I'm a sim addict too

whats also a fun way to kill is to seal a few of them in a room together with only alcohol to drink it's always funny to see which one becomes an alcholic first i've found that the one who drinks the most usually lives the longest lol

I've got the fruitcake it's kewl if you want to get alot accomplished, I also have a picture they can look at and everyone in the neighborhood becomes their friend...i'm so bad that I actually had to get a bigger HD cause i had downloaded so much stuff but man you should see some of the houses I've built with all the crap I've found over the years

I haven't picked up unleashed I promised myself I'd stop adding on after vacation... we'll see how long that lasts...

The bad thing about me is that when I installed unleashed I had to delete ALL of my downloads. I said 'okay clean break no more downloads'. Did that last? no way..i'm full up again.

AVID SIMS Unleashed Fan! and beta tester for Maxis Games!
I think the problem your having is that maxis reports that SIMS is NOT compatable with XP for some odd ass reason... I had to drop back to Win2k to be able to play! Wanna discuss downloads, have over 5 gigs of downloads! VERY BAD for Load time! lol

Ok, I'm going bak to bed now!!

What? - After reading through this thread, I was totally sold on it. As a matter of fact, I'm downloading it right now, but I have XP - I'm not going to be able to play it?

Now not necessarily, MANY with XP have absolutely NO problems with the SIMS at all....

But if the person above has downloaded the patch issued by maxis and is still having the problems, then there are other issues and I'll see what I can find out in the morning concerning that... Don't trash it just cause you use XP!

EXCELLENT game!

Mention above about killing people off by sealing them in a room, I enjoy having mine go for a swim and removing the pool ladders! But takes them a While to drown unless you put it on fast speed!

Another thing you can do is set off the rocket inside the house after you remove the doors! lol!

Damn PattyeCake* kills her SIMS...
(but only when some one REALLY pisses me off lol)

Oh and Sara, DON'T bother with SIMS online.. been there done that.. MOST BORING thing I EVER did.. Kinda like sitting around watching grass grow... I know I'll catch hell from SOMEONE for that comment.. Hell, even my 12 year old won't play...

Yeah that is what I figured. I always thought the sims was the ultimate game for folks that didn't like talking to other people while gaming. You build your own world..not play in someone else's.

I used to fool around in a virtual world chat thing where you built your own house and had an avatar. Cost $20 for the year but I got bored with it after I built my house. From what I saw it looked like it was pretty much the same thing.

If you have XP still get it but you might have to tweak things to get it to work. I do think maxis are getting lazy with testing things because of the rush to get The Sims Online out for xmas.

Don't even get me started on how long they made non North Americans wait for the hot date patch.
