2012 McLaren MP4-12

Caught sight of this little 2012 McLaren MP4-12 parked at the curb in downtown Port Dalhousie, Ontario the other day, and just had to grab a few quickie pics.

This is the first (and only) McLaren I've had the opportunity to see on the street.

For the technically curious - it has a 3.8L, twin-turbo charged mid-mounted V8 that cranks out nearly 600hp. It'll do 0-60mph in a blistering 3.3 secs. The 1/4 mile flashes by in 10.9 seconds at 134mph.

The MP4-12C competes against prestigious and exotic - not to mention seriously fast - rivals including the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP540-4 and the Aston Martin V12 Vantage.

Saw one at Lowes the other day. For some reason a new lambo and this car were parked there - out in the middle of the parking lot. Pretty cool car.

That's a bit of an understatement, don't you think?

Perhaps. I was merely quoting it from an car review webpage somewhere.

A McLaren MP4-12C supercar has been recently crashed by a businessman in Germany during a test drive.
Quote:
?You break it, you buy it!?, those were probably the words of the car dealer when he found out that the expensive McLaren MP4-12C has been crashed during a test drive.

According to the guys at wreckedexotics.com, the British supercar in question has been taken for a test drive in Germany but its driver has lost control of the wheel and crashed it into a tree. The result of the impact was a massive fire but happily, both the driver and passenger have escaped with their lives.

We don?t actually know if this is the refreshed version of the McLaren MP4-12C, which is wearing the 2013 model year in its name but as a quick reminder, the updated supercar is coming with the same 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which has been improved. McLaren says that the unit is now developing 25 HP more to a total output of 616 HP compared to the current MP4-12C.

The 2013 McLaren MP4-12C will go on sale across Europe in October and its starting price has been set at 176,000 GBP (almost $275,000 USD), 7,500 GBP more than the current one.
This car cost more than many people pay for a house...

I once drove a Lambo Countach (my boss owned it)...and it was a bitch to see out the rear window, too.

Granted, I only drove it around the block - but I had to back it out of where he'd parked it, lol.

To each his own but the McLaren is more powerful than the 458 for about the same money. I'd rather have the Mclaren design and Mercedes engine and remember, Mclaren is new to the roadcar game in comparison to Ferrari.

Beautiful. Would love to come across one of them on the street. Last year when I was in LA we came across a Veyron parked outside a store on Rodeo Drive, it was amazing. Had maybe 100 people standing taking pics.

McLaren has been making road cars since 1989...23 years to get it right. I like both the Ferrari and Mclaren but the 458 takes the win for me.

Ferrari has been making cars since 1929 and making road cars since 1947, that`s a 42 year headstart on McLaren so I`d have to say that`s not too shabby considering McLaren`s are sold out for the next 3 years. They`re expanding their factories in England to increase capacity to 4000 supercars a year due to all the demand.

I'd take the Shelby Mustang over a McLaren anyday, too.

Hell, for the money...buy a small fleet of Shelbys.
