Damn, I need to get me a pilots license.
Looks like alot of fun! |
Here are some cool pics from a flight I did 2 weeks ago with my brother and his girlie.. Views like this are why I love it so much!

How does it work with flying in public airspace like that?
I mean there has to be a shitload of flights coming in and leaving the airport, how do you know what their exactly flightpaths are and how to avoid them? Probably sounds stupid but it is a question that I have always wondered.. Also, what kind of training must someone go through if they wanted to fly something like a military fighterjet? For personal use of course |

Wow, awesome pics KC

When I was in the military I joined an Air Club. They had an old Avion and I got my student license, but a slot in a military school opened and when I completed the school, for whatever the reasons were the Club had shut down and to my regret I did not persue flying after that.

I haven't a license but all pics above are very very nice to see...I must start thinking about that
I envy you:thumbsup |
I am educated as a pilot (former ATP) but because of a accident on a motorcycle, I cant fly commercial any more.
I started at Crystal River FlightSchool in Florida. Thats a REAL nice place beside the sea on the WESTcost of florida. I still visit the place at least 2 times a year. If any of you guys EVER wanna fly to Florida - please visit another little airport called "Cedar Key" Its paradice on earth - but watch out for the runway - where the runway stops, the water begins |
I've been wanting to get a pilots license forever. My childhood dream was fighter pilot (of course)..
It's about $7500 CDN to do it, and of course a fair bit of time.. Gonna have to do it in the new year for sure. I envy you pilot guys. ;> Cheers, Backov |
Add me to the list, I have a twin cessna 340
|
Check out the P96 Golf http://www.airsportaviation.com/
These are classified as ultra light, so the license requirement isnt as strict ! I used to Fly back in the 70's but never got past ground school ! The P96 Golf is a really neat machine around 70k Canadian apx 45k Us so it is affordable . But as I mentioned the best thing is the regs for a license arent as strict. So this will be my next project. |
Wow, KC. Those pics are amazing! Damn, i wanna learn to fly. Maybe I'll learn soon.... http://www.beapilot.com/

If you tell me your location I can tell you every airport within 100 miles and how long thier runways are. Most airports that i've been to have at least 3500 foot runways, but thats not always the case. |

http://www.airnav.com/ Is a really cool resource for finding info about airports and the services offered there. |
Most instructors that i know wont even fly in an experimental plane... damn chickenshits. but you can find one, just look around in the phone book or newspaper. I have an instructor here that loves to fly in this plane but nobody else will try it. Some instructors have the mentality that if it wasnt built by cessna or piper that it just isnt safe. and some people say ford is better than chevy... its all a matter of opinion.
this plane is just as safe as any other that I've flown in, but it does require more skill than your typical training plane such as a cessna 152, but its also faster and more responsive. |

the king, you could always train in a cessna first.. Then have an instructor help you transition into the experimental. I'm sure they'd be more likely to do that then start from scratch in an experimental. |

They just added that weather info... I'm sure it's not considered legal weather by the FAA, but as long as it's current it looks pretty damn useful! |
I wonder what they would do to me if I landed here:
NASA Shuttle Landing Facility Probably shoot me out of the sky! I just heard the sonic booms from the Shuttle a few hours ago actually! 15,000 feet long - i believe its one of, if not the largest runway in the world... |
Quote:
Actually.. They issue TFR's (temporary fligght restrictions) during shuttle launch and landings.. I'm not sure about the airspace during other times. If you were in the air in that vicinity and had an honest to god emergency.. You could declare an emergency and most likely would be given permission to land there and (assuming the emergency was valid and not something caused by gross negligence) the FAA most likely wouldn't take your ticket. The priviledges that a pilot in distress gets is pretty incredible. |
Spunky
I worked the phone today and I am going to pass on buying the airplane. After having made inquiries to several airports and flight instructors it just gets too complicated. I love the aircraft and felt like a kid in a candy store when I saw it, but as I have stated there are just to many complications involved, not the least of which is the physical condition I am in. I have a seriously screwed up back. Time to return back to reality. |
