Serious Font Problem

I downloaded and installed PhotoImpact 8 last night. I then did the 'smart download' that downloaded me a bunch of stuff, including new fonts.

I went into my font folder so that the new fonts would be registered on my system.

Well, now every webpage I go to is in some different font! Pages look different now not only because of this new font, but the font sizes are now different on certain pages.

I've gone into the Internet Options on Explorer but did not see anything that was changed, or anything that I could change to solve this problem. I even went into the Display Properties, but don't see anything I can do there either.

Any suggestions?

I have Photoshop 7.0 - Is that real enough?

Uninstalling the program probably won't do anything now that the new fonts have been registered on my system.

Are you sure this isn't the page like you are supposed to see them? Many pages use the font face attribut to use different fonts. If you don't have that font installed it will use the default font of your system. So by installing more fonts you could be seeing the ones the webmaster intended you to see.

sounds like you have overwritten the existing fonts with some new ones. You cant really check that. Default font in explorer is Courier. Try to select a totally diffrent font explorer / options / fonts. See if your page looks diffrent then...if it does...selct Courier and if it still looks like shit then reinstall the fonts from your windows cd

I don't have any shortage of fonts, so I don't think that that is it.

Besides, every page I view looks different now. This is a serious problem here. It will affect my design work if I do not find a solution. I can't be design webpages that look one way on my computer - and different on everyone elses.

had the same problem, might be of some help.

some program installed a font called "Times" which interfered with IE's default "Times New Roman" font setting for html pages.

removed "Times"... problem fixed.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but nothing is working.

I just saw that my ICQ names are in a strange font and are reduced to a font size of 1. They are almost unreadable now.

I hate to resort to such drastic measures, but I fear that I may have to do a rollback. I do so much on this system, I don't know how much it will hurt me as opposed to helping.

Here I go...
