PDX is on fire. . . it is too hot!

It's been over 100 degrees the last two days and will be around 107 tomorrow. Way to hot to even think straight much less work. To make it worse the power grid where I live isn't built to handle the surge of people cranking up the AC so the power has gone off a few times in the last few days.

It sucks. Nothing like walking 20 yards to get the mail and by the time you get there you are sweating your ass off.

I know. I moved from PHX to get away from the heat. They are looking at only 1 degree higher than we are tomorrow!

It got triple digits in the Seattle area today and will be for the next couple of days. I'm ner the water so I'm a few degrees cooler...it was only 90 at my house today. Guess it broke some records today.

First thing I did when I bought my house in '97 was put in A/C. Then today we spent half the afternoon on my big deck.. grillin chicken for dinner and letting the grandbaby play in her little pool.

Sounds like a nice afternoon. When I bought my house half the reason I got it was the AC. When the power went out yesterday for about an hour I was miserable. You don't realize how spoiled you get with it.

I was actually thinking of heading up to Seattle tomorrow to see Halladay pitch against the Mariners and escape the heat. . . doesn't sound like it would be much of an escape.

aha.. and I have a home standby generator.. if the power goes off, it kicks in..

I didn't go to tonight's game. People I know who did said it was insanely hot. People up here just aren't used to it. The news said alot of people were staying in hotels that had A/C cause they didn't want to try to sleep at home. The pizza places are busier than all get out.. people don't want to cook.

I watched the game and several times during they mentioned the temperature so I knew it must be hot.

Funny thing you mentioning hotels. Here about 10pm on TV they started a rolling alert at the bottom of the TV screen that warned of the heat and gave a number to call to find a "cooling shelter" near you. I also called to have a pizza delivered and it took them an hour to get it here because they were so busy. They are probably loving it.
