DMOZ Listing PR

Routinely webmasters seek DMOZ as a commanding factor in Googles page rank. Upon examining the published PR formula this appears to be invalid. DMOZ is mathematically worth .85(DMOZ sub-page Page Rank / Outgoing links). It is true that DMOZ has a high Page Rank but they also have a high number of outgoing links. Spreading the high page rank over all these outgoing links leaves very little for site Z. Is DMOZ weighed heavily elsewhere in Goolgles ranking of sites or is its importance just a myth?

Currently Adultreview.net, one of my sites, is in a holding pattern while waiting for DMOZ acceptance. If DMOZ does nothing important, webmasters should stop wasting their time complying with the strict standards of the open directory.

I think you are missing some important factors here ..

One important aspect of DMOZ is that LOTS of other site uses its data. You will find your link appearing on many places you had no idea existed.

Another important reason is directory.google.com. Some believe that a site there will automatically recieve a slightly higher PR, i'm not so sure about that though ...

But DMOZ is probably overrated, and so is PR. There are other important factors ..

Amen my jersey brotha! I've been trying to get in for the longest time now, and randomly I submit just to see if get an editor in a good mood. But it just seems it's real corrupt. Editors adding their own sites etc... It's just not worth it for me to try anymore.

It's called the google directory- not the same thing as DMOZ.

The "published page rank formula" isn't a formula, but a conceptual guideline. Search around. Notice that a variety of algorithms experts have their own theories about what constitutes "the formula."

What can be said to follow up this non-sequitor?

dmoz will indeed help your PR because you will have more links to your site which is waht google looks for. you will have dmoz, netscape, yahoo, msn, etc. these will all help your PR because of sites linking to you.
