Is this common pratice with Affiliate programs
I was looking at and affiliate programs and when I went to the sites join pages I noticed that there was a ratio of 1 join option the webmaster gets paid for to every 2 options the webmaster doesnt get paid for. It is common for affiliate program to have join pages where the odds are higher that the surfer will select an option the webmaster doesnt get paid for?

You should get paid for everything you send. Be careful of the sponsors with 20 exit consoles that don't have your code on them. Check further than the console free example sites in the join sections.

With recurring, you normially get paid for primary and backup processors, not web900. Same with per signup. The only sponsor I know of offhand that gives web900 is ARS. Check's aren't sometimes paid to affiliates, depending on the program, b/c cheques have a very high fraud rate compared to CCs.

Yes it's common. Only a handful pay on every join option.

I know what you mean.. Like when I'm promoting a site through iBill, and I goto their signup page and they have 3 or 4 sign up options for the surfer, epoch, ccbill, whatever, but the referral code is an ibill code....
anyways, to answer your question... no, I don't think it's common, but it does happen. ;) |

The best sponsor programs are where you share in the recurrings. The inclination as webmasters is to go for the quick $35 pop upfront which with some programs might be better but for most you're shortchanging yourself by not taking advantage of the long term value of that customer. For example if you're on a 60% recurring deal and the customer is being billed $30 per month and he hangs in there for 4 months, you've made more than if you had taken the $35 pay per trial deal.
A good honest program will carry your code forward into the exit consoles and every form of billing. Badpuppy for example carrys your webmaster id code into 900 billing and paypal in addition to the cc billings. The reason why many sponsors do shaving is because they have paid webmasters for trials that don't convert into recurrings. So if you do 3 signups on a sponsor that pays $35 on each trial that sponsor just shelled out $105 to you. What if 2 of the 3 signups cancels in 3 days and doesn't go into recurring. Now the sponsor has to pray that one customer stays long enough to make back their $105 they paid to you and a profit. The easy way out is to shave for the sponsors because it eliminates that risk. With recurrings you are in a better partnership deal for both parties, which is why sponsors don't have to pull the shaving on that method.

mhm this is dirty shit. Have one with ccbill code that have paypal and ibill web900 as well, only get paid for ccbill. The funny stuff is when the program owners is dodging questions about things llike this. So I don't ask about it anymore just move on. There is enough prgrams/sites to promote that gives you full credit for your traffic.

It's probably more common than you think.. especially with the smaller affiliates because they don't have the money to get software that will track on all of the back up processors, etc.
I always always take my linking code and click to see what a surfer would see as far as join page and pop ups. I also look at the site without a linking code to see what join options they get if they went back the next day to join. I've found some that use a different processor for their main url. This to me is bad because no one's gonna bookmark with my linking code, they'yre gonna type in the url and I won't get credit for the sale. Sort of like a one time opportunity to join and if they don't, then too bad so sad for me. |
