Goodbye Like Whoa, I am moving. they should at least e-mail customers about downtime and provide some compensation. I got nothing for the 24h+ downtime a few months ago.

boneprone 12-02-2002 06:07 PM

A little bird told me that on Tuesday night they are getting 3 new providers going to be the first 10gig host, and be bigger capacity than ever.

May be rough waters now, but its smooth sailing head.

Trust me on this.

You'll see.

salsbury 12-02-2002 06:07 PM

i wonder if they've tried bleach to help clean the dirty fiber lines? bleach can get some of those stains out that are left behind by porn surfers.

i think that little bird was here posting something like that during the last downtime. it was the same bird that was talking about level3 litigation and not getting kicked off of verio tho, so i dunno.

Since I'm on my way out to diner this will be my only post in this thread.

Is this upgrade on Tuesday 05, or the 12th?

i'm sticking with like whoa. if things go to shit i would move, but they're a great group of guys who don't seem to sugar coat things. if you have a problem they're right on it asap.

the last couple months, i don't think its what we can really expect from like whoa in the future. but my patience is being tested tho heh

Tukhman 12-02-2002 07:00 PM

Thanks guys. Please excuse any inconveniences over the course of the last week. We are actively working to resolve current issues while we prepare to upgrade our network. As mentioned before, 10 gigabit network was a milestone for our company this year and we are happy that it will be fully operational within days (while connectivity is added throughout the week). These unexpected downtimes are very unfortunate; however these events are not directly affiliated with the ongoing network upgrades.

Our new network addresses all issues with capacity (full 10 gigabits), redundancy (multiple fiber strands to 2 various Telco hotels), and network quality (at least 3 tier-1 providers ? i.e. Cable & Wireless, AboveNet). Thank you.

Thank God I'm still with FlashHost. They can get expensive ($10 a gig overage) but they're rarely down. I think no more than 36 hours for this whole past year.

I almost left back when everybody was kissing LikeWhoa's and other hosting companies ass around 5 months ago...This is one time where laziness has worked out to my benefit.

Laziness workin to your advantage - thats some funny shit :P

36 hours downtime in one year? hmm, not so hot tho. Not the worst though, obviously.

for this 'milestone' will you be using 10GE connectivity or will you actually purchase 10 individual Gig-E lines to different providers ?

Inconvenience? No offense but this has been FUCKING HELL for some people, not an inconvenience. Personally, if I were using your hosting service I would have sued the shit out of you guys. I am already pissed because I had a Hun listing and the traffic went to DOWN all liquid sites!!!

You are not providing ANSWERS as to why your hosting service is DOWN. All you are doing is coming out and saying "Oh we are getting a 10G network - please excuse the inconvenience". If you can't keep your current network up - how the hell are you going to keep a 10G network up? What good is a 10GB network?

LWI needs to come clean with its customers and keep them updated on downtime. Personally that last excuse of ?dirty fiber loops? sounded like bullshit to me. Where is the redundancy in your network/fiber paths? It doesn?t exist. You guys also need to start answering emails. I?m glad I do not host with you ? but I do send thousands of visitors to All Liquid daily and when you guys are down I?m losing money! (Not that they are paying me anyways!)

And no I'm not promoting another hosting service!

x582 12-03-2002 12:57 AM

*bump*

My sites are still very slow to access - not down though. But because of this, my traffic went down 30%.

Are we going to see more downtime(S) while you'll add more providers?

Pipecrew 12-03-2002 01:04 AM

my sites on likewhoa are up and fast right now, autogallery which is very tempormental depending on server speed is humming right now

I love how it is assumed I get freehosting from them, Granted they gave me an excellent per gig rate, but I am still paying them 3k+/month and will continue too for a very long time! (depending on hotlinkers i guess heh)

compare. check the last mod dates. note that hosting.likewhoa.com's feature list was more similar (read, almost exactly the same) last year (archive.org probably has records of this). there are many more examples.

so before you go and start tellin people that they're stealing your shit, stop stealing other people's shit.

Tukhman 12-03-2002 02:52 PM

salsbury,
Your bosses should tell you to keep your mouth shut, these kind of things can get you in trouble. Don't brag about things you have no idea about. Admining is what you are good at. Stick to it ;-))

I can give you example about the way your ex-CEO almost sold the company, shut down freehosts, jacked people for their traffic and money, not to mention the crazy prices you are charging to some of your largest clients that still cry to me :)

so moral of this is "it's ok that i copied everything from a competitor, but if another competitor does it to me, i can blab about it on the boards, in a thread condemning my service."

cool.

Tukhman 12-03-2002 02:56 PM

The moral of the story is that your are limited. Web Hosting That Satisfies and SexTracker Satisfies seem to be just alittle different for me. But wait, there is more, your company's mentality is based on bragging what you used to be:)

Relax man, you are all sweated up ;-)

Yassi 12-03-2002 02:57 PM

Likewhoa sucks balls!!!!
not only they are a ripoff, but obviously their service sucks as well
my host doesn't have 10% of the pretense of likewhoa and also does not have 10% of their downtime :1orglaugh

likewhoa sucks dick!!!:321GFY
