I have absolutely no culinary skills apart from amazing peanut butter cookies and fucking phenomenal guacamole.

I must say, I do make up for it in other ways though. ;)

I love cooking, but rarely do I bother to spend the time dealing with "good" recipes - by the time I get home at 7 or later, there's no time for a convoluted process to get food in my belly before I have to crash. I also never bother taking pix, 'cos I don't bother with presentation for a simple dinner like roasted chicken or pulled porn.

I love to cook and good thing too because I live in a town with 2 restaurants and they both have shitty food that is way overpriced.

I actually learned to cook watching cooking shows on TV. I spent a lot of time since childhood sick in and out of hospital with a chronic condition that prevented me from eating for weeks at a time. As you could imagine I would get pretty hungry after not eating for 3 weeks. So I would take what I had learned during that time and make a huge feast when I was able to eat again. It was kinda funny actually thinking back being an 8 year old kid making a 6 course Chinese food meal. My parents would invite friends for dinner and there would be this huge spread and they would usually be in awe when they found out that I cooked the entire meal with little to no help from my folks LOL.

I never usually use a recipe and if I do I don't follow it completely I throw my own twist into it. I did a killer sirloin steak stir fry, hot and sour mushroom and crap soup, and spicy grilled shrimp the other night, it was delicious. The prep for something like that I find takes quite a bit of time but the finished product makes it well worth the effort.

Well speaking of food it's getting close to dinner time and I have to go and get started on my evening meal :winkwink: bon appetite

Bearnaise can be served with steak or fish.

I love a well aged New York strip (medium rare) with broccoli and Bearnaise sauce :)

I'm going to assume you meant "pulled pork" instead of "pulled porn." That's got to be the best Freudian slip I've seen in years. :)

WTF! The absolute best thing in life is a grilled entrecôte steak with fries and bearnaise. :)
Hollandaise is for fish.

TrainWreckContent 07-03-2009 05:58 AM

I think the most in depth cooking I've done is making pie from scratch (pumpkin pie, latice crust apple/blueberry pie, etc.). As for actual food mac n cheese and frozen lasagna are about as far as I go. My sister on the other hand is a great cook, even graduated culinary school.

I've been told I'm an excellent cook. i don't have pictorial proof, however there are several GFY members who have tasted first hand who could vouch for me. ;)

I cook. I do a variety of types of things but have no deep database of dishes. I almost never use a recipe.

I can do fish quite easily of course, including a few beautiful seared scallops dishes, lobster prepped my way, and I do crabcakes from scratch. My Italian dishes tend to be pasta based, one nice one I do everyone loves is with farfalle & proscuitto and another penne with chicken & broccoli in lime and olive oil, etc. As for beef, I do a good steak-frites as well as prime rib, and a few other beef dishes. I do stir-frys, I do fajitas, home made spaghetti sauces. I do 2 nice tortilla wraps, a chciken caeser wrap (lunch) and a rib or strip steak wrap, which often ahve in the evening with red wine. I don't bake much, but I've done some nice creme brulee. My fucking favorite!:thumbsup
