Examples: Tom Cruise Tom Hanks Brad Pitt Jennifer Aniston Julia Roberts Britney Spears Hell let's even put Jessica Alba on the list. Those are A-List celebrities.

I can't precisely quantify "A-list" but when somebody is described as "A-list" and their name doesn't ring a bell my BS detector starts to flash red.
Sometimes the description ("He's the singer for Green Day") will pull it out, though. --t
