I am reading through their ads and I see that there is this poster who apparently comments on everyone's ad when he thinks it is over priced. Handle is something like Way Overpriced!!!!

I am like wow. I had never saw that before. I had saw people who use the hookers and post comments that they brought some dude with them, or they were actually a massage person, not whore and such in that section. It was kinda amusing as it was always the same guy.

However, reading through the flag forum I see now the CL vigilantes now community flag ads they think are asking too much, paying too little, or sound fishy, among countless other petty bullshit.

Kinda sad really. But some of the people in that flagging forum take this shit seriously. Almost like they are getting paid to flag people.

So I run a quick search to see if it is just my state, or if it is a more common practice. I run across this little diddy....

I do not use CL a lot. I often forget to even check it when looking to buy or sell something. I had read complaints on GFY among other places here and there. But I figured it was simple shit like trying to recruit skeezers in the wrong section.

But I am more amazed that you can now be flagged just because 'the community' does not like your price point, or because they do not like your picture in the personals section, or think it is a bad offer, or fishy, or whatever some of these other things were.

None of which were actually reasons to flag something in the rules. Like animals, firearms, etc..

I have had decent luck finding.... handyman, lawn care, snow plow people.

Occasionally, when I actually remember to check, I have found some decent deals on there. However, just like ebay or Amazon. Most of the time I forget to check unless I can't find it locally.

CL is awesome for finding brand new shit for dirt cheap...

I have bought tires from companies that unload overstock on CL, an Olympic quality ping pong table brand new for $50 because the wife said it was too big... etc.. etc...

People just give shit away on there too...

Got a friend of mine a bitchen refrigerator with ice maker and in mint condition... Some dude had to move and anything left was going to the landlord that kicked him out... So he gave it away on CL to make sure that didn't happen!

I had always heard that rumor prior to reading their forums. However, once I read through a couple of pages, you could find out who the career no life flaggers were fairly easily. Then their attitudes, and reasons for flagging were exposed.

I have nothing against their general rules I suppose. But some of the so called reasons were stretching the limits. Like charging too much, too little, sounds fishy, all caps, a url providing more information or showing examples instead of trying to write out the Gettysburg address.

Those are your own agendas, and preferences. Not rules.

Ah ok. Well I suppose it makes more sense for the uneducated buyer.

However, I do not think that is the CL flag Nazi's job to be doing the blue light special or think that they are there to do price checks. That is up to the consumer who is ACTUALLY BUYING.

There was one guy who, while not linking to his shit store, was saying everything was Waaaay Overpriced and telling people to check his store, or Newegg on almost every piece of computer equipment.

This goes for the job postings as well. If you make them too detailed in what you are looking for, more importantly NOT looking for, you are flagged. You almost have to be intentionally vague to clear the Nazi's. Basically giving the minimal tasks, hours, wage, and pay day. Anything more and you risk being flagged.

I have had me run in of those in the past myself.

I post an ad looking for snow plowing, lawn care, or something and get hit up with just about every possible irrelevant thing on the planet. Dating, hookers, some berry juice or other bullshit.

So in the middle of some 100 replies, half are unrelated bullshit. At the same time I see people posting the same exact ads in multiple categories all day every day. Or furniture vendors posting every little piece of junk daily flooding those individual ads with their shit.

For example, instead of just listing the whole 7 piece living room. They make an ad for all fucking 7 pieces individually. So they must sit around all goddamn day just posting ads to flood the flagging Nazi's just compounding the problem as those being flagged just post 10 ads to compensate for the 1-2 being flagged. Making any problem worse.

In main stream the people that do the bitching about the Ad's are or were often called the Anti's. And they are 10 times worse than the guy that makes 50 stupid threads about selling a lawn mower. Because not only will they attack each one but will then begin to HUNT the guy in an effort to stop him from selling anything. Even if the 50 threads were a mistake some how.

I use it a lot .. BUT If I am selling something I have to write " Local sale .. cash only.. scammers fuck off ! "... or you are bombarded with emails from scammers trying to buy your item for their over seas student etc. " do you take money order and will you ship it to blah blah ..
I have got a few awesome deals though .. hell my motorcycle from there was 3K less than anywhere else I looked ..

in my old office in Venice beach, one guy that also rented an office there "worked" for craigslist. his job was to go through flagged ads and remove them, as well as anything he thought was suspicious. he was always on one big power trip.

he told me once "if you ever post something, let me know and ill make sure it doesnt get removed"

Someone says or does something one of the 'bro clubbers' doesn't like - and immediately gets attacked (usually by a combo of the 'bro' and/or his fake nick gang) in each and every posting no matter how benign the post.

Playground mentality. I've seen it increasing on CL lately, though.
