Al Jazeera TV reports - US Japanese base on high alert - Send more troops to S Korea

Sorry, title didn't have enough room.

Regarding North Korea:

They are saying US troops stationed in Japan have been put on high alert and they are moving more American and South Korean troops to the North / South Korean border.

That little man is about to have his ass handed to him if he doesn't get in line with a quickness.

BTW... those of you who CAN get Al Jazeera television, do so, it is an amazing channel.

Welp... if anybody wants to do anything, now is the time to do it. Stalling any longer will just put NK in an even stronger position.

Agreed. They need to give that little mad man a reality check and take out military targets in NK. Cripple him. You KNOW they could do it if they wanted to.

If we were going to invade North Korea, we certainly would not start with a land invasion from the South Korean border. The North has 1.1 million soldiers for one, and enough artillery to drop 100,000+ shells within the first 24 hours. Plus, the terrain there is ridiculously hard to move through, nothing but mountains and dense woodland areas. Oh yeah, and the land mines.

You've probably heard this before, but I'll remind you - just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

I am fairly confident that there are reasons we do not and will not ever know surrounding this situation that prevents it.

Yea, not sure why they would move more troops to the border when they could just strike military targets if need be.

Not to mention that Seoul is only a hop and a skip away from the border.

If we ever fought NK, I don't think we would even go in with a ground force. They have way too many seriously brain washed fuckers that would fight with stick and stones if they had too.

We would simply bomb the living shit out of them and cut off any sort of trade by sanctions. We might secure some area's on the boarder for a bigger buffer zone but I bet that would be it.

correct.. problem is, the more time the United Nations or the U.S. spends on planning more "sanctions" and getting the Nokor allies support, the more stronger this Nokor madman gets.. i've just read earlier that they have the capacity to manufacture big nukes in just 3 years.

Kim is old, sick and suicidal.. i doubt if he'll ever go down without a war

There would be a ground war. They would get into South Korea and start sabotaging anything they could. The "allies" are not going to carpet bomb South Korea.

invading SK from the ground would be another Vietnam imo. Better off carpet bombing that bitch.

Isn't China SK's "big brother"? That's a little scary if so...

Last line is 100% true. And the fact that he thinks and acts like a James Bond super villian is what leads me to agree with you.

As for the first part - the biggest problem is that if they don't go the political route, they are condemned globally. And by they, I mean the USA.

And of course I have to wonder what ol' KJI has up his sleeve, aside from being old and ready to die.

China will pressure NK to do the right thing. NK acts as a nice buffer for China geographically, that's why China keeps them afloat with food and weapons.

But the NK leader needs to act crazy enough so China doesn't think they can totally control him. It's a little dance.

I was stationed in S Korea for a year in 96. When you do your processing and introduction to the county, they let you know that the N Koreans have so many ground troops that they would take over the entire peninsula within 3 hours

NK has one of the largest standing armies in the world - top five I think - but it's poorly trained, and it's equipment is very old and barely works. On the other hand, South Korea has the world's sixth largest army.

The problem with wars is that in the past twenty years we've fought very quick engagements with armies that are not interested in fighting (which may be the case in NK). If the US became involved in a ground war with NK it would be a huge long affair with ten of thousands or hundreds of thousands dieing on both sides.

Not sure if the US population has the stomach for that.

The Korean War came to a halt because the US pushed the North back so far that we ended up in China. Obviously, the Chinese didn't like that and decided to get involved. At that point we decided it was in everyone's best interest to call a ceasefire and that's how the Armistice came about. Even though it's technically an agreement between North and South Korea, in essence it is a ceasefire between the US and China. North Korea is nothing but a chess match between China and the US. I highly doubt Kim Jong Il is running the show over there.

I guarantee you North Korea has no intention of starting a war or they would have done so already. This is nothing but a test orchestrated by the Chinese. If we're too soft, they know we can be pushed around. If we're too aggressive, we end up isolating ourselves. Right now, we're too soft. I think the best option we have is to put fleets on both sides of the Peninsula and initiate a full on blockade of North Korea. It's aggressive enough that we can call their bluff, but not overly aggressive since it doesn't involve any violence and we can easily justify it with the recent Nuclear activity. This sanction bullshit just makes us look weak and if we can't stand up to fucking North Korea then we're in serious trouble when China decides they want to challenge us directly, which they will.

Good 'ol American.. "we'll come in there and carpet bomb the place to a parking lot" mentality.

Lest you guys forget that your still trying to pay for that other war still...

And you guys have no idea what NK is hiding.... you could walk in there and get your asses handed to you. Say NK decides that they actually have a working nuke and strap it to a ICBM...

It's these scenarios that are the reason why the US hasn't been quick on the trigger with this madman.

No one is going to go to war with NK while China taps it's foot. KJ is old and I would be a lot more worried about his even more worrying son and heir at this point.

US aren?t quick on the trigger because they are cowards. It's easy to attack Afghanistan and Iraq but it is a bit harder to attack someone who can actually defend themselves. Kind a funny to see how USA is justifying war on Iraq with POSSIBILTY of WMD?s while NK are actually bragging about how all of their plutonium will be used for nukes.

You're a moron if you think the reason the US doesn't attack NK is because they are "cowards". The situation in Iraq and NK are not even close to being the same. North Korea has the potential to wipe out 10,000,000 innocent civilians within minutes. Maybe you think we should just accept that as collateral damage?

All the more reasons to actually do something. If they can wipe out 10,000,000 innocent civilians now what will they be capable of when they turn all of their plutonium into nukes?

Fact is USA is attacking defenseless countries but when the real danger presents itself they are keeping quite like little bitches. But I am not surprised. I guess somebody else will have to do something first and then USA can enter the war when it is already won, like WWII.

I see. We should just ignore the tactical situation and run in with guns blazing.

Good Plan.
