I'm a Mac....

Since my recent conversion over to Mac, I've been needing to network my computers (Mac Pro & iMac) so I could share files between them. I've purposely avoided looking into it because I new knew it was going to be a MAJOR pain in the ass. When I was a PC, I had to hire a network professional to link my PC's together because it was too fugg'n complicated. I wasn't looking forward to networking my Macs for the same reason.

Long story short - I googled how to network my Macs and 5 minutes later it was done. I couldn't believe how easy it was. No stress and no drama....just the way I like it. The funny thing is that as I've discovered....there are a lot of other things that are much easier to accomplish then with a PC. I wish I had become a Mac years ago....I may have more hair on my head right now if I had

think again if you're connecting 10+ computers each with different versions of Windows. It can be quite a pain in the ass.

I know because I've gone through it many many times.

Well, I just want to get there with little stress and little drama. If someone else wants to drive - I'm cool with it

I linked my first network after release of Windows 95 and it was a smooth and simple procedure. Now it's such a breeze, that only a super dumb fuck could possibly have issues with it. But then again - you switched to Mac, that itself speaks heaps about your smarts

My brilliance shines in other areas - not computers. At least you found your calling - Mr. Network Extraordinaire, congratulations.

Apple computers have had networking capability integrated into them for a very long time now.

Just one of the reasons that I have been a Mac user for about 25 years!

I still have a few token PCs for when I need to use a specific piece of software or to see how things look on other operating systems...

I can't say I know what you're talking about because networking computers means plugging them into a router and resetting the modem. Sometimes you have to run a 5 second setup with a provided CD.

and getting things done they do. when i was a pc i spent more time fucking with trying to fix many different loads of bullshit.as a mac i spend much less time sitting and waiting to start up,jam ups were constant as a pc never got anything done because everyday it was another problem.i held out for awhile on switching to mac and now i wish i had never waited. It's always there for me when im ready to work.also everything is much faster which leads to much more getting done.

just got my first mac two weeks ago as a travel laptop, the airbook.... Love it so far! Afraid that i will be changing all of my computers eventually to macs. Took me a few days to navigate it and learn how stuff works, I can't relax until I know what's what and how to. Took me years to learn that on pc's

But on the other hand, Macs have a lot less user defined settings and that bugs me sometimes. There are things that I cannot control and it makes me remember pc's.

Has anyone tried to do the local network between pc's and a mac? I have never tried it even between the pc's, wonder how complicated that can be.

Was on PC for 17 years then got my 1st Mac for editing and photography. Is the very best for anything you want to do with pics and video. Very stable!!

I know programers that program PC languages in Mac because no bugs, no viruses no bullshit crashes where everything is lost.

I have never bought virus protection for any of my Macs and never had anything serious ever go wrong. My time is money and i would hate to waste it with PC problems.

Dean would probably agree with that. He made the switch.

Imagine automatic networking... hmm sounds sort of like my Vista Premium computers when I click the network button, click on the computer I want access to, type in username and pw and bam Im connected and have access to whatever drives that I have shared. Takes a whole 13 seconds to accomplish. Maybe a mac though would be better so I can drink coffee, sniff farts, and have a reserved table at starbucks, where I pull upto the store in a Prius and talk to my friends about how I lowered my carbon footprint by buying offsets from Al Gore. Woo Whoo!! lol

Mac or PC or Linux. Any computer that's come into my office in the past 2 years has been pretty much capable of setting itself up on the network.

ive used a PC since before windows came out and Im a unix/linux admin. I switched to a Macbook pro 2 months ago and I am never going back onto my PC unless I have to remote admin a winblows server. Even then if I load Fusion on my Mac then I can admin the Winblows.. but Im afraid to put that crappy Microsoft OS XP/vista on my mac cause im afraid that it will reek havoc like it normally does..lol

The New Mac OSX is superior to anything Microsoft ever put out. Its Next Openstep and BSD all in one.. GREAT SHIT..!

My prediction is In 10 years or less Microsoft will loose 30% or more of its market share to Mac unless they redesign there OS to work off a unix kernel.

Windows is a flawed OS.. built on a crap foundation.. this is FACT

Exactly. Had my MBP for under a year and is the best machine I have ever bought, after a history of various old skool machines including Amigas & Amstrads.

Microsoft have so much wealth, why the hell can't they just design a fresh OS using a Linux or BSD kernal as well as Windows on the side? If open source companies[eg Ubuntu] can do it then surely the worlds biggest software company can do it? Instead they try to imitate other web based companies .... *cough* *cough* .... Google.

I actually really like Unix and Linux systems and used Ubuntu quite a bit, but switch to mac because it's easier to find quality apps I need for video editing etc. I think of it as lazy-man unix Love the power of the unix command line and use it many times each day for dealing with thousands of files at a time.
