I'm considering starting a solo site.

My suggestion would be to shoot a SHITLOAD of content before putting the site up. I had about 40 quality video/pic sets and about 30 prewritten blogs before we went live and I was amazed how fast they went! Plus it's such a relief to know you have a good amount of content stock piled in case something happens and the model has to take some time off.. as models often do

But that's kinda common sense

Also be HONEST with the model don't make her any stupid promises don't tell her you plan on making her the next Jordan Capri or "in no time you'll be making 10k a month" cause it's just not going to happen! Having a solo site is def a work in progress and I work on my site DAILY and I still get a shitload of emails to answer everyday and guys asking for MORE MORE MORE so I hope she's in it for the long haul

And if it were me I'd pay her up front for shoots and if you are going to offer her a % then make it reasonable. In the beginning i would offer girls 50% but I would never again offer a model that much starting out. Offer her a small % and tell her if she really works hard on the site you will up her %. Then if the model comes to you if the site doesn't make her rich off the % and she tells you that she wants the site taken down you tell her that she was paid upfront for modeling and she can continue to make money as long as she is onboard.

This is really, REALLY, REALLY good advice. No matter how good you think the girl may be, girls will be girls... especially if the girl is good looking or to say somthing that I absolutely hate as a word "HOT". These solo sites take alot of work and ALOT of follow through. In my earlier jobs, I made sites for some hot upcoming models that should have been really good but because of the way this business works in LA, things quickly turned sour because of the ever present "bigger and better deal" Deals don't mean shit when you can't get a model to come in and shoot content because she is off shooting for all of the "majors" that want to shoot her and are giving her more money to do these shoots and take away focus from what might benefit her more in the long run by having her own site and her own subscriber base.

I'd skip the partnership idea, though. I've heard (and lived) enough 'partnership' stories to rival the number of horror movies by Lon Chaney.

As said by others - get as much content in the can as quickly as possible before launching...in case she goes flakey. Keep your paperwork in order and I'd be considering a contract with her if I were you (get something in writing - preferrably on the advice of an attorney who specializes in that sort of thing).

2) People say to buy traffic--- well is buying traffic worth it? How do you know it's legit traffic. How do you know it'll convert to signups? Is it a gamble or part of an overall traffic strategy?

3) What type of contract should he make his model sign? And does it have to be notarized?
