I've got the fan on it cranked to 100%.
I got a blue screen earlier playing Left 4 Dead.

I am pretty sure. Because, if I leave the fan at about 50% and start playing L4D for a bit. My computer ends up freezing up. Today, I got a blue screen when I was playing.

I've got the 9800GT and have over heating issues with it too.
It will make my game freeze for a bit and have the nvlddmkm error. I fixed it by opening the case and sticking a fan to blow right on it when I'm gonna play Left 4 Dead. I don't know how else to fix it as its just a Gateway case. The fan on the card is utter shit

I have a HAF 932 case. I am going to invest in four 120mm fans from NewEgg.com. That should give me some better airflow to the card.

That's not bad for a GPU. Now for a CPU that would be getting close to bad. ATI has or had the fans kick on the 4870+ series at 90C, so I'm assuming it can handle even hotter temps. I'm sure nvidia chips aren't far behind. So it's probably something else causing your system to lock up.

I've got the EVGA 9800GTX+ 1GB, and it works like a dream for me - it is a beast of a card in dimensions though.

Mine is about 12 inches in length. Crazy in comparison to my last video card.

You should check your CPU temps, check memory for errors, check s.m.a.r.t. on your HDD and make sure you're using different rails on your PSU. Don't plug everything into the same rails, you probably know that if you built it but just thought I'd warn ya.
You can also open up dump files created when you get blue screens. I forgot which program to use for that, it's from MS but it pretty much tells you what caused the crash most of the time. |
