It has been up and down last couple of days so it is not an isolated incident.

I do not host there but I do have some galleries with sponsor links to "alliquid" and those sights appear to down quite a lot the last couple of days. The sites have a nice look and design but I'm underwhelmed with the the access speed, conversions, and now the reliability factor.

Too bad...

LW is the bomb. I just don't understand what's up with the downtimes?

Thought a lesson was learned last time. Have backup providers!:(

This is really unfortunate.

its unfortunate for the paying customers who's sites are down.

imJason 11-28-2002 12:13 PM

well well well,

first off, I dont want to shit on like whoa, causes they have been good to me, pricing and tech support wise,

in fact the tech support has been the best I have ever gotten,

but,

I got downtime first in sept, for a day, and I got the promises, may of you are talking about,

well, I let that slide, and I was happy to receive a credit on my account for that day or 2 of slowness,

but,

the last 2 to 3 days have been getting progressivly worse,
the noc icq is now off line and the phone not getting answered,

and I have yet to hear from nick on this,

so im considering my options, and I guess we shall see,

Id really like a statement from like whoa on here,

and Id really like to know whats going on,

PS

in regard to this

http://www.traffictrader.net/likewhoa.txt
posted by Henry and friends,

its nice to see my site as part of the discussion,

for the record, my site has always been fast with like whoa,

even since the switch from verio,

until now,

anyways, that it, sucks to be down,

5 years online, and Ive been down with,
ultraspeed.com
servint.com
maxim.net
flashhost.com

those are host to AVOID at all costs,

and well like whoa, so far so good, but this repeated dowtime is starting to get to me,

but like I said I dont want to bash them, only vent a bit,

later

Dude, I've read the fine print. My host is not lying. I have personally had 100.000% uptime for the past almost 4 years. How many of you can say that? Read: 0 minutes of downtime in almost 4 years. The fine print states that downtime refers only to the network, and not for software problems. But that's the same for any host.

I host with rackspace. The guarantee is NOT fuck all. Everything imaginable is redundant. If one thing fails, something is there to INSTANTLY bring it back online, with no human intervention. Right down to the wires going to your computer, in case a fire burns one set of cables. Even down to a generator if the power goes out. It may cost a little more, but reliability is everything. Look at everyone mad now that their hosts are down... it sucks to have to deal with that, and worry about it. If anyone wants to get a deal with rackspace, talk to me, and I can refer you to them.

Availability Requirement Yearly Monthly
95% 438h 36h
99% 87.6h 7.2h
99.9% 8.76h 43m
99.99% 52.56m 4.3m
99.999% 5.256 m 25.92 SECONDS

As you can see 99% uptime leaves a large margin for error.

Yup, I usually refer people to these numbers, as well. I see 95% and 97% a lot of the time, but it's 2 and 1 day of downtime / year. My host has 99.999% uptime - 5 minutes of downtime per year - 25 SECONDS of downtime per month (a little mistake in your table that I quoted). The rest, even 99.99% uptime, are not even close to this...

Andre, you think I host with rackshack? :1orglaugh I would not ever host anything with them, ever. You obviously have not seen my thoughts regarding them when people are posting threads about them.

I host with rackSPACE. Please read the above few posts if you want to learn a little about them. I really shouldn't post the same stuff twice. Talk to me on ICQ if you want more information.
