Is Google generally easier to get rankings on?

So far in my 1 ongoing (mainstream) development experience, I'm noticing it being MUCH easier to get higher on Google than Yahoo/Live, which seems ironic because supposedly Google's algorithm is the most complicated and everyone and their dog is going after Google rankings. I just wanted to see if perhaps this is just an outlier experience and it's generally actually easier to get ranked on Live/Yahoo vs. Google. Is it any different for adult vs. mainstream too?

you can get number #1 on google for any term just by repeating the word over and over, its that simple.

ok but seriously. google seems to pickup sites quicker so thats prob the main difference

With yahoo its harder to get listed because for high volume keywords they handpick the results.
Surprisingly I've got a number 2 spot on yahoo for "blue widgets" for bluewidgets.info with absolutely no backlinks and relatively new domain (1y+).

Actually that's true and I know that from experience too...forgot since it's been a while but I had bought a high traffic adult name years ago thinking the traffic was from a nice aged Yahoo Directory listing, but it actually turned out to be #3 hand-placement for like 15 niche terms, a dozen of which were xx,xxx+/mo terms. It was obvious hand-placement meant to be consistent across all the terms. Eventually it lost the ranking but it held up for a good 4 months after I purchased and redirected to aff and parked and I made back the money I spent on it easily. It's amazing all the traffic flowing through search engines on single terms like that.

For me google is much easier. Especially say domains under 1 year old.

Yahoo = unpredictable

I specialize in google though so I havent put much time into learning yahoo.

Its easy to get listed, as google amost always gives a trial run (sort of speak) the hard part is keeping that rank.

Good luck.

I'd have to say MSN is the easiest and then Yahoo and then Google...

should i hide those words by just repeating it over and over in the bottom of the page and make the text the same color as the background?

It depends on your strategy... they are all easy, but require different strategies...

All my mainstream sites get listed on Google quicker, while Yahoo takes forever. I have sites that are page one in Google, but Yahoo they are page 3-6 if that. I have tried all the Yahoo tips to getting listed and still only get a few listings better. I don't know what it is.
