For the first time a list of some of the people denied entry to the UK on the basis of promoting extremism or hatred has been published. It is only a list of 16 but a fairly interesting read. It includes Fred Phelps and Mike Savage.

A former presenter of One Man and His Dog has been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred in a pro-hunting speech.

Robin Page, 61, a farmer and countryside campaigner, was questioned over remarks he made at a fair in Frampton on Severn, Gloucestershire.

Mr Page was invited to the event by its organisers, the Frampton Court Estate, to urge people to attend the Liberty and Livelihood March in London.

But several people complained to police about his speech, in which he allegedly said supporters of the traditional country way of life should be given the same rights as blacks, Muslims and gays.

On Monday Gloucestershire Police asked Mr Page to attend an interview at a police station in Cambridge, near his farm in Barton.

The Daily Telegraph columnist was subsequently arrested on suspicion of committing public order offences by breaching section 18 of the Public Order Act, which refers to the stirring up of racial hatred.

Mr Page denies having made racist comments at the event on 6 September.

Establishment blamed

He said: "I believe country people should have the same rights and protection under the law as any other minority group in a multi-cultural society.

"It is beyond my comprehension that I am not allowed to say that in a public place, where I was invited on to private land."

He said his arrest was an example of the way country people had been "victimised" by the establishment.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police confirmed a man from Barton, Cambridgeshire, was arrested on suspicion of committing public order offences.

Mr Page was released on bail and is to report back to Stroud Police Station on 6 January.

Public Order Act

Parts 3 and 3A- Racial hatred etc.

Part 3 of the Act creates offences of use of words or behaviour or display of written material (section 18), publishing or distributing written material (section 19), public performance of a play (section 20), distributing, showing or playing a recording (section 21), or broadcasting (section 22), if the act is intended to stir up racial hatred, or possession of racially inflammatory material (section 23).

Part 3A was created by the Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006 with the insertion of new sections 29A to 29N. This part created new offences for acts intended to stir up religious hatred. Sections 29B to 29N are to be further amended by the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 when the relevant parts of that act come into force. These further amendments will extend Part 3A to cover intent to stir up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation (to be defined in new section 29AB).

Wow, I haven't ever seen a more out of context site in my life.. No wonder they don't allow comments, they would get ripped apart.

I agree with about 90% of what he says about Muslims.. and he has said they aren't all bad, evil etc.. but those aren't the 'few' out protesting against terrorism. Sites like that simply cut out the part that made him build up the rant..

well... personally, I can't stand him and think he IS a racist and bigot... I just posted that link because it has some audio samples... but I have heard alot worse. Particularly offensive is his anti-gay vitriol... I heard him tell a gay caller once that he was a sodomite and should die of aids. Yes... I am a liberal... so in his view I have a mental disorder... but I am perfectly fine with living my life hate free. The funny thing about anyone in porn thinking he is ok is that I would be interested to hear his view of porn... or any of those right wing talkers for that matter.

I just try to live in reality, where I know most people are racist, at some level to some people.. be it skin color or, not race and it's gay, or fat.. or whatever.

He has a problem with being gay - the idea of creation+gay=none and the moral issues. Which are real, just depends if you care about them or not.

But I really don't think he raciest, or against them, simply because the person is gay or skin color. The person is a problem for him when they are stupid, in his eyes (stupid is a huge range for him) and they could be gay, old, young, white, black and so on.

I have heard him have great conversions with known gays and Muslims, that have a brain. I have heard him rip Christians for being stupid too...

Porn wise.. He is correct, it's the same moral issue as gays. The question is, do you give a crap or not about that moral issue.

Anyway, I don't listen to him for his views - I listen to him for the news that the rest of American media ignores and he nails, time and time again.. View wise, he is a douche that has some damn good points, sometimes.

Noone told him he couldn't say something... so this isn't a free speech issue at all... they said that they don't want him in their yard because they don't like what he says... We don't allow Cat Stevens in the US.

Certainly not going to argue with that.

I guess the thing about the list is that there isn't much context given to why the individuals were denied. The Phelps crew made the news when they were denied because they were planning on coming over and protesting at the funeral of troops. So, they were denied entry. I have no idea what Savage had planned on his visit and one would suspect he had to have something 'official' planned because as just a mere citizen it would be hard to stop him.

Also interesting is just how few were stopped and that the majority are connected to the middle east whereas most people here think that sort is never denied entry.
