also, don't put $50 price tags on $10 domain names or you will just be wasting your time

for cheaper domains buyers tend to like a realistic "buy it now" price so they can grab it if they like it with no hassles, auctions tend to only work if your domain is truly worth more AND you can promote it some way to actually get some interested buyers looking at it

also remember that after a sale it tends to take about a month to finish a transaction and get paid, so don't expect to do this and have your money tomorrow... for that you are better off dealing with people you know on a forum person to person

that's about all the advice I can think of right now, maybe someone else can comment on their experience
Good advise

I should have decided in the beginning that if I was not planning on using the domain for a site...I should have already been trying to sell it...not a week before expiration.

you are going to have to renew the domain because you won't be able to transfer the domain to a new buyer with less than a week to expiry anyways

If you have tons of domains to keep track of the renewal dates and dont want to rely on emailed renewal notices, set up a google calendar with all your domains listed on or about the dates they expire, set the notice to repeat yearly, also set the pop up reminder to whatever suits you and add any notes like the registrar..etc.
It works great for me.

I believe it's $8.45 a year. I know we could save maybe two or three hundred bucks a year using a less expensive registrar, but given the value of the domains to our business, the reliability of Enom, and the lack of hassle, for me it's a good tradeoff, and I consider it cheap insurance.

BTW, Namecheap, which someone mentioned, is an Enom reseller.
