its also worth pointing out that most people in Alaska have to escape to Hawaii or else where to get sun... and one of my best friends who is a doctor in Anchorage told me recently that right at around 50% of patients who walk through the door are on some form of medication for depression, primarily due to the lack of sunlight and Seasonal Affective Disorder.

How did you escape from Eagle?

I grew up in Alaska too, and I'd pick it in a heartbeat over Hawaii to live in as an adult. Alaska has a better class of bugs and people are more inclined to mind their own business, plus you can drive somewhere else when you get fed up. But yeah, raising a kid in the bush is ethically questionable at best.

They are both equally as isolating but in different ways. I know Hawaii has a ton of problems but the cold, lack of sunlight, dry counties and the fact that the people elected Sarah Palin are enough to make me lean towards the Islands

Hawaii of course...a rainbow everyday, I went there earlier this month. Some things are expensive...an apple was like $3...here in NY you can get 3 for a $1

The only thing I was a little disappointed about was the beach water was not very warm, like Mexico or the caribbean.

Dry counties? I have been to TOK and Anchorage and the towns in between I think your thinking about texas. Cause the beer flows everywhere I have been to in alaska. I have never been to hawaii but I heard the natives hate white people so fuck them. If I want a nice beach I would rather go to south china than hawaii.

That was filmed on Oahu in Honolulu which is like a tropical San Francisco. Not the best place to vacation and escape the rat race, drugs, and thieves. The north shore is the place to be on Oahu. Otherwise go directly to Maui or Kauai for a vacation in paradise.

I lived on Maui and dated a guy from Alaska. Alaska sounds nice but I would never live there.

Alaska would be the home base. Alaska has low taxes, and even gives money back to citizens. Hawaii is very expensive and highly unionized.
