need a dedicated server
i did my search in the gfy archive and am still unsure what options would be best.
i'm running two very RAM intensive programs in addition to the usual stuff: In addtion to a gigabyte RAM and a couple of hard drives, I need *A current version of Perl 5 (version 5.004 or better), *Perl database modules: DBI and the appropriate DBD module for your database. *MySQL 3.22+ *Need mod_perl for best performance *PHP v4.02 or better with track_vars and short_open_tag turned on as well as the appropriate database support. *Ability to create a "catch-all" email account. * Ability to run cron jobs every couple of minutes. *run a pop server *plesk should be onboard i only need 50 to 60 mb bandwidth, burstable of course. I would also be moving numerous domains/subdomains over to the new server and I don't want any hassle/charges in moving them all over. In other words, I'd like an excellent machine and grow the bandwidth later. All over course at a reasonable cost. Suggestions? |

LikeWhoa's hosting is the best host I have had out of the 4 others that I have been at previously. Support is good.. availible on phone, email and icq most of the time..
You can contact Stan (icq 3302961 or email ), and he'll get you whatever you need. Oh, and tell him I sent you and he'll give ya a discount too. Cheers, Matt |

RackShack.net
For the money, it don't get no better than RS. I've had their dedicated servers for while and my scripts run 24/7 eating up about 50-75% system resources (domain extraction scripts). You get 400 gigs of bandwidth with every server and the stuff you mentioned as well. Their dedicated servers start at $99 (I got a few P4 1.8, 512 ram, 40 gig hd for $139.99). They also offer Linux, Plesk-Linux, Ensim-Linux. Customer service is ok, but if you know jack shit about servers you'll do fine without it. Luc L. |

Why not buy your own server, and simply co-locate it somewhere? You might come out ahead, if you're only renting rackspace and paying for the bandwidth you use.

Hello archer,
Candid Hosting can offer you the following Dedicated Hosting solution: Intel P4 1.7 GHz, One Gig RAM, 18 GB SCSI, & 50 GB's of transfer, for $400/mo, with a $150 setup fee. We are currently adding H-sphere to our network, which you would receive at no additional charge (as soon as it is available). If PLESK was still a requirement, I would have to get you a current price. You can see more of our Dedicated plans at Candid Hosting. Compare our infrastructure to the competition:

Redundant clean power
Burstable BW to 100 mbps
FM200 Fire Suppression System
Environmentally controlled server suites
Multihomed BW through fibre commitments with Level 3, EPik, UUNet. (IP = 64.159.80.1)
Currently our pipes are averaging 3.5Gbps!
Tech Support is LIVE Remote-Hands 24/7/365
I am confident you will be impressed with the value you receive for hosting with Candid Hosting. NOTES: We have all the items below that you requested. *A current version of Perl 5 (version 5.004 or better), *Perl database modules: DBI and the appropriate DBD module for your database. *MySQL 3.22+ *Need mod_perl for best performance *PHP v4.02 or better with track_vars and short_open_tag turned on as well as the appropriate database support. *Ability to create a "catch-all" email account. * Ability to run cron jobs every couple of minutes. *run a pop server *I would also be moving numerous domains/subdomains over to the new server and I don't want any hassle/charges in moving them all over. Would you be moving them or would you like us to? Good luck with your search.

I tried Rackshack a while and it isn't bad at all.
I'm now into UnitedColo, their prices and what you get for it just kicks ass As far I can say for high bandwidth sites with a need of stable and powerfull hardware I suggest UnitedColo. Rgds,JOKER |
