people who say "I missed my X,000th post" - I call bullshit

It really is weak to say "I missed my X,000th post" and yet turnaround and make a post that you reached it. Who are you trying to kid to try to appear like it's no big deal to you that you have to say you didn't notice. I see it all the time here on GFY so it must be evidence of something weak in some people that have to go that route.

Just an observation.

I think what they mean is they didnt notice that it rolled over and are now adamant about making it known...

I think youre just misunderstanding the "i missed my" part... confusing it for not caring... when they do, they are simply high or busy or just blind and happen to squint and notice their postcount ...

the cool thing to do would be to just forget about it and wait for the next milestone

but some people are just not that cool

No, I am saying they are tracking it and do notice, yet feel the need to wait a few posts and announce they didn't notice it. That is way less cool than just not noticing it and still making an announcement. It is a made up lie to try to look cooler when they announce it.

I understand your point, but what I am saying is that it is more deceitful than innocently not noticing. If you were right, then it would happen a lot less frequently than it does.

I am saying people are clearly trying to make it seem they didn't notice when they are obviously watching their post count like a hawk, since they feel the need to make a post about reaching X,000 posts but have to qualify it with "I didn't notice" to make them seem more cool or something.

I'm a major forum shark... Not with the adult industry, but I've spent a LOT of time on a LOT of forums, i've probably surpassed like, 100k posts since 2003. I Have a lot of hobbies

The truth is on a LOT of forums I belonged to, not having a high post count means, you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about... Sure you may some experience doing something from somewhere and blah blah, but quickly that dosn't matter... Because on a forum, only "THIS" forum matters.

Can't tell you how many times i've seen "wtf do you know noob ? Mr. 300 posts" etc etc etc.

The truth is it's very lame, and childish. (Post counts making a difference in your opinion I mean) And to some... Well some people just appreciate their forum more than you'd think, and X,000 posts may actually mean something to them.

I had a feature request for FfVb recently (not from gfy) to be able to automatically ignore anyone with 500 posts or less.

It's amazing that people so easily dismiss others based on post count.

But back on topic Hershie, I agree with you. They pull a (it's no big deal) attitude while screaming 'everyone look at me!' at the same time.

high post count = lots of wasted time and many missed opportunities, of course i'm not dismissing fact that for some it made tons of biz, but in general its a waste of time, imho. tough job to brag about )))

Nah, you're cool. Just posting an observation that it happens so often here.

Just weird that so many have to add the tag line "didn't notice" or "missed my" regardless if you are 10 or 20 posts passed, rather than just say "hit my X,000 post". I mean it happens all the time on GFY, so thinking something is going on in people's minds that they feel the need to add that.

I was actually hawking my post count for a while just anticipating to be cool like everyone else and announce my 1,000 post. I've been waiting for 3 years to do it, I mean, I was foaming at the mouth for it... But I got side tracked while just posting and working that I didn't notice it until it was too late.

I'm no success at board marketing, but next go around, maybe start a thread at 1,999 and say "1 more to go for 2,000" in upper caps and a fancy colour. Milk it before and after hitting the milestone. Anything but "oops I didn't notice, but..." for the win.
