And on this way they getting lot of free PR links and good positions on SERP

That's fucked.

Thanks for the heads up.

Blazed 03-02-2009 03:53 AM

This really is not a big deal, i noticed it ages ago and just removed the link and have done so from plenty of sponsors. If this was some sort of injection or something that is completely hidden to you sure but it is not hidden in anyway whatsoever (only from the SE's), its your job as a webmaster to look at what code you are pasting into your site.

I'd still promote Webcams.com with the 'PR theft' over them cocksmokers over at Video Secrets any day.

How long before an uncredited backlink/leak quietly slips into the RSS feed? :)

TeenCat 03-02-2009 07:04 AM

oh guys i am seo lame but i know that 1+1=2, and if you put 1000 outgoing pr0 links at pr5 site, it must do something with your pr5 site! and if you dont think so, go and wash your head in cold water ... :2 cents:

Its totally different they are giving you the option to use the link or remove the link, its in the code and clearly visible. That doesnt mean they are going to start forcing shit on you now. Wordpress done the same thing ages ago they put hidden links in the footer of every wordpress install.

Ya, what is wrong with Video Secrets? Thought they were supposed to be good? A little birdy did tell me that their models are treated poorly, though. Don't know if anyone knows anything about that or not.

xentech 03-15-2009 08:00 AM

Anyone who cares about this is just bitchin', they are doing good business - if you understand what they are doing with that iframe trick just remove the code and stop whining.

So a link list with a link back from every site will always have
page rank zero then....right???

I mean, same number of links going in and out, right.

I've never heard this before.

I don't see how this would benefit google.
Jos sites linking to resumes and companies would rank last.
Doesn't make sense.

Your little birdy has good ears. Of course their excuse is that the models are through studios which are 'third party' and has nothing to do with them. :disgust

Bottom line is they are a bunch of arrogant douchebags.

No you missed the drama where someone had "lifetime" revshare, and then VS stopped paying them because they didn't send them any traffic for years, but still getting rebills from their "lifetime" revshare joins. Last I saw, had nothing to do with models, more about getting paid if you don't send traffic. :2 cents:

No, because if a site becomes popular then there is more people linking to it (or bookmarking it) and there's more PR juice assigned to it. It's not entirely based on links either especially if they have analytics enabled on the page as well. :2 cents:

SmokeyTheBear 03-15-2009 10:01 AM

Hate to agree with dj but yes this hurts pr, both of your sites and every link on your page that is devalued because of it.

SmokeyTheBear 03-15-2009 10:05 AM

wish people would use common sense sometimes.. this can kill your serp.

example. I have a page about buttons , my competitor also has a page about buttons, we each have 5 links pointing to us from other "button" sites we each have 1 link pointing out to a "button" site, now i add a text link to webcams that has nothing to do with buttons.

hmm how do you think google will treat our sites if half my outbound links are to irrelevant pages and my competitions page has 100% of their outbound links pointing to relevant sites

Niktamer 03-15-2009 10:24 AM

Good point on that

But what if the webcams show belly buttons? :)

The model in this situation said more than once how VS stepped up and helped her with that situation and she is happy how it turned out, so why are you still so upset about it?

I worked for a studio for VS for my 1st 3 years in this business, and I am still grateful to everything VS did for me, I got to know plenty of girls that worked for VS, independent and through studios, USA and international, and they were all happy and treated fairly and always paid on time (which is more than I can say for some other webcam sites!)

I only see it from the model perspective, so I can't talk about affiliate programs or stuff like that, but your beef is with the studio owners and model treatment, and you seem to be the ONLY ONE, so whats your real agenda here I wonder?

The issue is that they have a douchebag representing them in the Toronto/GTA territory who has posted a model's personal information in a public forum multiple times (Craigslist) while representing them. The links (on separate occasions) were sent to staff members at VS and they did absolutely nothing about it.

Their answers after the fact:
1> They didn't get the complaints from me. Bullshit, it was on ICQ and they responded to me. But no, they did not respond to the emails.
2> The studio is a 3rd party and they can't control what the studio does.

My agenda? Its to make people aware that they are lazy cocksuckers there at VS who did nothing about the problem. Their solution was to let that one specific model switch to another studio out of area.

As a model I would think you might appeciate the severity of a studio handing out a model's personal information in a public forum. Ask Illeana how much fun it is to have a stalker.

Linklist sites always get a link back from free sites the link to. So the PR leak kind of cancels out.

Is the model you are talking about Bella Bellini? Because VS actually DID step up and do something according to her, and she said she was happy the way it turned out. I did in fact have a couple problems with the studio owners I worked for, and when I went straight to VS they took care of it also. One of the reasons I stuck with them for almost 5 years.. GREAT customer support, great model support, I was always treated very well by them.
So if think VS treats their models so poorly, which webcam site in your opinion treats their models better? I've worked for plenty of the "top webcam sites" and I still say VS was one of the top.. 2 :)

miss_bellabellini 03-15-2009 04:12 PM

That's right Aaliyah, I've mentioned this a few times already but since it is being brought up again I have to say that it was resolved 100% to my satisfaction.

VS responded to me immediately when I spoke with them directly and sorted out the situation much faster than I anticipated. There will be problems in ANY company, what matters is how the company responds and solves the problems.

If you re-read my post it covers your first question.

If VS had any business ethics they would have kicked the 'studio' in Toronto to the curb. There is absolutely no possible way to excuse the actions of that 'studio' from a professional standpoint. He took advantage of a situation that he had purely because of representing them. Had he not been representing them he would never have had her personal information.

Of course the clueless jerkoffs at VS don't seem to be able to grasp this concept.

p.s. the link isn't in the iframe :winkwink:

SmokeyTheBear 03-15-2009 04:37 PM

the html after the <iframe> and before the </iframe> is read as html for browsers that have iframes turned off, so anyone with frames turned off sees a no ref link to webcams and your ad doesnt even showup. so quite possibly cell phones and mini aps would how this as well as anyone in a secure browser.

at best its a very poor mistake.

Unfortunately the "ignore list" doesn't work when you are quoted but now that I see it - Strait from the models mouth one post before you:

What matters is that pr0 is wrong about there being no PR leakage.

That iframe makes you link to 2 pages: first link is model page that tracks your sales and second link is webcams.com index page that doesn't track your sales. Google counts the outgoing links to these pages as separate links, thus PR leak.

Also, webcams.com know what they are doing, because they even set up a title tag for that link, to maximize SEO effect.

:2 cents:

Actually he's not wrong. There is nothing on the Google page rank page that says anything about outgoing links just links coming to your site so forget other sites that may rumor what Google is doing. Focus on the information you getting from the source.
