I actually own an original print of this image, signed by the photographer Alberto Korda Diaz. If the house was burning down, I would grab this as I ran out the door.

She was like 12 when that photo was taken and she was "hot" to you?

notime 03-01-2009 03:14 PM

Most pics bring back memories about the events we all saw on TV or read about in papers.
Some shocking, some sad, some wonderfull, some beautifull.
The one with the starving kid and the vulture is the most grabbing one and it shows us nature is very real and could be cruel.

you know, before i knew how old she actually was i took her for a lot older. guess it's an easy enough slip up.

I don't see how you are quick to say she "looks 70", it's always hard to define what a certain age "looks" anyways, but to me she could look 25 just as much as she looks 35 45 or 55, and to say "shame" about her looks is another strange one, she doesn't look hideous in any way :2 cents:

Wow. Some good stuff in here. The one with the baby killed me. I can believe the guy killed himself. I cant blame him if thats the kind of stuff he saw throughout life. That would be a heavy burdon to live with.

Sailor kissing girl in Times Square - by Alfred Eisenstaedt, V-J Day, 1945
Alfred Eisenstaedt of LIFE took the photograph of a sailor kissing a nurse at the Times Square celebration on August 15, 1945, at the end of World War II. The photograph was one of many Eisenstaedt took that day, and he didn?t bother getting the names of anyone. Only after seeing the proofs did he realize that he had captured a decisive moment. On the 50th anniversary of the photograph, the couple was identified as Edith Shain and Carl Muscarello.

Construction Workers Lunching on a Crossbeam
This iconic photo is one of the most famous images ever shot. Construction workers take a break from their work on the RCA Building at Rockefeller Center in New York to have lunch atop a steel beam 800 feet above ground. The photo was taken Sept. 29, 1932.

That is deeply disturbing and I'd never seen it before. Living right around NYC in a decently off area I knew around 20 people that died that day. That easily could have been my friend's dad.
