We do not offer ICQ support because I would never trust my support to a third party application or company that I have no control over. I've seen too many threads where someone says "so and so host is ignoring my ICQ" when in reality, it wasn't the host but ICQ that was the problem.

We do respond to all tickets in 5 minutes and all phone calls in 3 rings or less - 24/7/365

Now...sales uses ICQ and you can contact Kevin at 449703215 during normal business hours (M-F 9-5)

We can also be reached at sales AT nationalnet DOT com

I was a little concerned before joining NatNet around 4 years ago that there was no ICQ support as when using other hosts, ICQ was the only real way of getting answers in a timely fashion (if i ever got a reply that is) but the fact is there ticket or phone support is so good you just don't need what can be flakey ICQ communication.

My last ticket to NN:

customer to admin, - 02/21/2009 14:54:12
admin to customer, - 02/21/2009 14:55:48

Just over a minute aint bad is it :)

That ticket once closed stays in the system so i can refer back to it if needed in the future rather than going through a huge ICQ text file of history.

I've used several 'popular' hosts who post on this forum and nothing comes close to NatNet. :2 cents:

Yap tickets answered in almost no time!

No ICQ support is the deal breaker for me.

I'm not gonna waste hours shooting tickets back and forth when I can easily discuss the problem in real time.

Phone is pretty much useless too when you have to spell domain names, account names, server paths, commands and so on. (or call across the atlantic paying international rates)

DarkJedi 02-22-2009 01:57 PM

Also, I sent Kevin an ICQ 6 hours ago to discuss stuff, and still haven't heard back.

SweetT 02-22-2009 02:09 PM

Hey Davey Jones....

Not sure if you and I have met, but my name is Tony Morgan and I am the CEO/Owner of NationalNet. I just wanted to pop my head in and try to address your concerns over our ICQ policy.

Yes, we allow our Sales Staff to use ICQ. Thanks for hitting up Kevin but as it is the weekend I am sure he is out with his family but I am sure he will be back online this evening and will get your message.

As for our Tech Support staff, we choose not use ICQ and this is one of the very reasons. You could be waiting hours to hear from one of our Tech Guys while he is not on shift while in the meantime any number of the guys there at the NOC could have assisted you. I TOTALLY understand your liking ICQ, especially being that you are outside of the US and dont want to pay huge fees for the call....I feel you on that....but I think if you gave us a chance you would find that our ticketing system is so close to INSTANT that you would hardly know the difference. You seem like someone who is very decisive and if you are that within your tickets you will find that there is VERY LITTLE that cannot be conveyed. One of our policys is that if the tech does not understand your direction WE WILL CALL YOU AT OUR EXPENSE to make sure that we are doing it correctly.

We really do try to make the experience one that you will be happy with but we just are not willing to stake our reputation on something as buggy as ICQ. I truly hope that you can understand our position.

If you choose to take advantage of this opportunity I would love to welcome you to the NationalNet family. If, however, you choose to stick with a host that uses ICQ, I will respect your opinion and truly hope that you are always happy with their service to you.

Thanks for considering us either way.

Thinking of getting in on this but I don't need exactly what my current hosts gives me. I pay too much and need to trim the fat.

Who can I talk to over icq to see what we can come up with?

I run NationalNet and one of my rules is that ALL tickets are responded to within 5 minutes. You've seen a number of previous posts raving about our support and you've seen a couple of people actually post examples of our support response times.

I'll make you an offer. Give us a try for 1 week after your server is ready (usually the same day your order is submitted) and if you don't like what you see from the ticket system, I'll see that your money is refunded.

We didn't get to be as big as we are by not doing something right. Anybody can put up some servers and a switch and be a hosting company, but few can match our level of service.

Yeah, I got a good laugh out of it, as well. I don't know the guy personally but from his screen name I envision a very talented system administrator who doesn't want anyone touching his server. He believes that his way is always the best way...and I bet that most of the time it is. He will always be happier just handling things himself and since he is good at what he does he doesn't need the talents of another administrator.

Of course, like I said, I don't know him by his name but I am only guessing....either way, you are right...it was funny.

I've been at NatNet since late '98, and I have tickets in my account history submitted on xmas morning that had the same response time (minutes) as any other day :2 cents:

xmas eve '08 - 2 minutes
xmas day '03 - 10 minutes
etc. etc.

New years eve, xmas day, whatever. NatNet Rules :thumbsup

RobertD 02-23-2009 08:19 AM

Too late to edit for a correction. I've only been at NatNet since early '99.

Yes...it has already been established that we had some downtime in 08. EVERY host has had an issue or 2 (or 3) at some time or another. We don't claim to be perfect - never have made that claim.

The fact that you keep bringing this up in EVERY thread regarding NationalNet makes it obvious to EVERYONE that you have your own agenda, so grow up and take your trash talking elsewhere...it's getting very old.

Not true, why should I have stayed at Webair when there are soooo many probs with them? I pay for my box at NatNet so I don't get why everyone is so up set. Who would you want Webair or NatNet? We both know the move was best for me and my websites. You have never changed host or stopped promoting a program?

:winkwink:

Why deal with this?

You didn't seem to mind the problems when they were paying you to stick up for them on the boards. I'm amazed there were problems for you since you must have posted 10K times "I've never had a problem with them"

The issue isn't if natnet is better....everyone knows they are....the issue is your credibility...you stuck up for a shitty host on here for years and now you're using the word "loyalty" while you throw webair under the bus.
