I'm just about to dip my toe in the C4S waters - looking for anyone who can suggest, well, anything

What formats have you found work best for clips (wmv would be my first thought) - any thoughts on length of clips - or anything else?

The trick is to update alot. As far as length of clip? Who the fuck knows lol I put up short ones they dont sell I put up long ones they do sell. Then small ones start selling. The trick is alot of different clips and that build the email list.

Not yet, I've been keeping all my traffic to myself for my VOD stuff, but figure they've got enough traffic to bring something new to the table

Do you use wmv? 320x240 or bigger? Just trying to feel my way without having to buy a bunch of people's clips to gauge what everyone else does lol

I sell wmv 640x 480 and 320x240 and qt big and small. Some offer every possible codec under the sun some dont. I would look for smoking stores and see what they have. I would be shocked if you didnt do well.

actually there IS NO MONEY IN VOD SALES..for real.. I've gotten the same payout for 5 years, no matter how much new content I add...but on Clips...that's a whole different ballgame... It's not what it was a couple of years ago, but it's better than VOD

It also depends on the type of content. Eva does it every week with updates for the next week and does well with the old retro content, hairy pussy and a lesbian in that order.

Helps if you cross link with other stores as well. Assuming they are in the same genre. Well it works for us.

I think a lot depends on the traffic you have flowing through it and the predictability of the updates - the repeat customer are the lifeblood for VOD. The days they know I'm posting new videos, even in this economy, I still do at least one or two $1K+ days a month, and am in no danger (I hope - of course a full-scale depression means all bets are off) of sinking below five figures a month from the VOD

Now, if I can replicate that on clips.....

Im counting on the repeat business to turn into my retirement fund with VOD.
The clip business can become both if you work it properly.
And if you have niche content it can become a powerful tool for a membership program.

Its all how you market it.

No doubt. I'm just trying to wade through the yes and no of c4s...they say no urls in descriptions or on watermarks, but it seems everyone does it...apparently they now say no banners leading back to your sites but i see them on every clip store i look at...it seems like a minefield for somone who wants to give them a lot of sales

I had not heard the no watermarks on clips thing. But I still log into the old admin. Apparently there are a lot of P.S.A.'s and shit in the new admin for all these changes, chats, and so forth.

I will never remove url watermarks from my clips EVER. So hopefully that is just some rumor.

I guess that could mean either "Do not put any url's in your clip" or "Do not put any url's in your clip descriptions" - that's why I say "wading through the minefield"

Maybe his is referring to not putting something like

or something to that effect. That way you are not stealing their traffic to your pay site.

Could be - although if I have established brand names (which I do), I'd think it would increase sales for him AND me for the clip store to be branded that way - rather than just having another store saying "kinky stepmoms who love to fuck giving smoky xxx handjobs in dirty hotel rooms".

Hard to tell exactly - guess I'll do what seems to makes sense from the hard-to-understand guidelines, at least until I get slapped down ;)

Cant really tell you much about clips4sale but I can certainly guide you thru anything at clipclinc.com , I recently got involved in a redesign and some new marketing and traffic angles here at AEBN so Im in a better position to help you out with that.

Im thinking those of us with paysites or an other agenda could certainly position themselves with ClipClinic either as an additional revenue stream or a crafty guy like yourself or Dragon King certainly can see that using a 15 minute clip priced at a buck could be a clever $1 trial on our bandwidth.

They are trying to stop the traffic leaks or something I guess. That is why they are changing all these rules, and links, and so on.

I do not know if sales are down for c4s on the whole, or store owners, or what. Kinda seems unnecessary to me.

honestly I do well with C4S and have yet to make any sales at clipclinic apparently clipclinic just doesnt get the traffic.

c4s on the other hand is a rock solid revenue stream for me for older content that has already been monetized.
