How did the Visa regs affect your business?

hgmo2.com was processing with CCBill. We decided to NOT incorporate in the USA and go thru all of that shit, put our necks on the line with no solid info and thus, no solid legal advice...

Which leaves us unable to process VISA transactions.

On the average day, we were processing at least 50 recurring memberships, and somedays up to 100.

The last two days, we have processed a grand total of 4 recurring sales.

From my dealings with the surfers, I had thought MOST of our surfers had signed up with a JCB card. But apparently, this isnt the case. Either that or CCBill has just put a stranglehold on the account. Which, to be honest; I don't think happened. CCBill has always been pretty straight up with me. But the numbers just seem to strange...

It seems, that VISA is simply the most popular card for the net. VISA is like a new currency. It's insane.

Anybody else care to share some stories?

<disclaimer - hgmo2.com is simply a mirror site to hgmo.com, it was for in house generated traffic only.. so this is not hgmo.com related really>

I was told Visa is 65% or more of porn signups.

It's been no secret that VISA transactions are about 70% of all cc transactions.

Unfortunately, CCbill does not tell me what type of card was used to sign up... As I said however, the majority of clients that asked for support send in their credit card info (Japanese are trusting) and I would swear that 90% of the support emails that had a card number in it were JCB.

At least 90%.

So, I was expecting to lose about half the rebills pessimistically. However, as you can see - we lost about 95% or more.

I dunno. Seems a little strange.

And I am talking strictly rebilling clients here - we stopped sending traffic to the hgmo2.com site a few weeks ago. we havent had a fresh signup since then (except a few due to caches and proxies and shit)

CCbill actually. We were in a process of shutting it down anyways.

I was just expecting to have more rebills then we have been seeing.

I would normally expect to see at least 100 rebills over the past two days. But we have seen only 4.

That is just nuts.

oh my bad

ur closing the site down?

and from what i understood in the 11th hour visa said they would still process rebills from members before the changeover, in fact i am sure of it. it was even posted on here 2.

they didn't just want to cut their existing members off, so i dont think thats whats happening unless ccbill decided go their own way and shut u off.

Shit man, with that many rebills a day, why wouldn't you step up and do the whole BS US Biz presence?

My consolations in any case man, I hate to see it happen to somebody.

PS Quiet:

<roger>

What's your email?

Email me?

WHat's your ICQ?

Do you talk on the phone?

You suck. I don't like you any more.

</roger>

Cheers,
Backov

Well, hgmo2.com was simply for internally generated traffic. But yes, it is going down... that was the plan anyways.... we just didnt expect it to die so quickly.

The main site is hgmo.com. It has always been running on a different processor and has no problems accepting visa throughout all of this garbage.

Dickblast - yah man, we are shutting it down anyways, I just think it is crazy that the # of rebills is sooo fucking low. Even without visa.

Backov, we are gonna email the clients and ask them to move over to the main site with the different processor. Being that the members are japanese, there is a GOOD chance they will

The reason we didn't setup the US Co and all that was we had no real info from Visa or CCBill. so to be honest, we didnt know wtf we had to do. Our legal counsel was stumped because they couldnt even get a straight answer.

I personally have merchant accounts in Canada that I absolutely can not afford to lose. Since it seemed that I am personally liable to visa even tho I was using ccbill, I could potentially be denied processing with visa period... meaning if I setup shop down in the US and got fucked, I could lose my other business up here in Canada.... which is the main reason I didnt go thru with it all

L0stMind,

I was with Paycom and their stats can actually show the % of the sales that are with VISA. For me, 62% of the sales were with VISA.

Greetings,

Art

I am in Europe and decided that the rebills were not worth the trouble of trying to comply with the VISA "presence" requirements.

Things were (are) pretty unclear, but I did understand that VISA wants CC transactions of a European company to go through European acquiring banks. Paycom unfortunately didn't offer such a solution for EU webmasters, so I decided to move to an IPSP that does. (That was after one unsuccessful attempt to get my own merchant account).

Greetings,

Art
